I'm not sure I know which piece you are talking about, but this black

plastic is cracking all the time. actually cracked across the

width of his shoe right under the ball of his feet, up closer to his

toes. The orthotics dept here in town put a piece of fiberglass along

the bottom of the foot sort of welding it together. That worked very

well. We called and he immediately sent us a new shoe. It was

no hassel and no problem. He was wonderful to work with. These shoes

just keep cracking though. This new one we haven't had any problems

with except for little pieces around the foot. but now we have the

foam wedges underneath to he doesn't even stand on the plastic except

indirectly.

Hope this helps!

I wonder what he's doing differently... We got 's shoes back in June and

there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. No cracks, no splits, nothing..

He's going to need a new pair in January and i'm a little nervous....

Our first shoe had a different kind of plastic - it was a dark gray instead of

this black - and it NEVER cracked, chipped or whatever even though she'd whack

her feet down against the floor all of the time. These new ones do crack. I

find small pieces of black plastic on the floor and I worry about her trying to

put them in her mouth. I wish the new ones had the old plastic. However, we've

been thinking of trying your foam wedge - I'm going to talk to her PT about it.

Not because her feet can move in the shoes because they can't. I've watched.

LOL but because it might stretch her foot a bit more and we need that.

LOL I'd still prefer them over the other though!!!

Knowing how is always trying to improve the shoes I imagine that in a bit

he'll have that problem licked as well. Just hang in there.

needed new shoes LONG before we ordered them. But her ortho seems to

think we were right on schedule so that was a relief.

Have you considered super glue or hot-glue? Or is there a piece completely

I always do that! LOL! I hate that stuff. My dh though, we talk about the book

we're going to write called A 1001 uses for hot glue. He can " weld " almost

anything with his hot glue gun cuz somehow he manages to heat the plastic until

it melts back together.

I would just give a call and tell him what happened. I am sure he will

tell you how to fix it if he doesn't send another shoe as a replacement.

I spoke to him about 2 weeks ago and he said that he is working on making

shoes out of a fiberglass material. He told me that our next pair will be made

of the material. (we are looking to size up around Feb.) He also said that he

is doing away with the yellow rubber because of the moldy marks that some

people (mostly people in the south) have experienced. I know this doesn't help

with your problem now, but its something to look forward to. is listening

to us!

Not to say that the 's aren't the choice for 's foot, but I

wanted to point out (for anyone who needs the info) that Markell makes a

wide shoe too. The narrows or regulars are what most kids get, but wides

can be ordered.

Now back to your regular shoes discussion :~}

Well, I'll tell you what we've done in the meantime... LOL I'm one of those

" gee her outfit is red so let's see what we have to match that " kind of folk and

this weekend I took some of that colored tape - kind of the consistency of

electrical tape (and the same size) and I ran a strip around her shoe base

thinking that if a chip came off, it would stay attached to the tape until I

took it off. It only lasts a day given her constant dragging and bamming but it

does help keep together for the day. My dh says that the electrical tape would

be fine as well since the shoe is already black. Any sticky residue I took off

with some lotion. No problem.

Oh I'm in the North and we've got those moldy marks, too. Alas I thought it was

just hot blooded feet on 's part! LOL

Re: Re: To those of you who have

s.......

I would just give a call and tell him what happened. I am sure he will

tell you how to fix it if he doesn't send another shoe as a replacement.

I spoke to him about 2 weeks ago and he said that he is working on making

shoes out of a fiberglass material. He told me that our next pair will be

made

of the material. (we are looking to size up around Feb.) He also said that

he

is doing away with the yellow rubber because of the moldy marks that some

people (mostly people in the south) have experienced. I know this doesn't

help

with your problem now, but its something to look forward to. is

listening

to us!
