Guest guest
Beth, Congratulations! :~) DOn't freak over the weight gain... it is all for the health of the baby... just keep telling yourself that and you will be fine. Trust me... lol... I went through taht and still go through it every day! :~) At 32 weeks, I feel like a hippo! LOL! But.. it's BABY!! It will come off again! :~) Prenatals can be chewable or not... easier to digest if theyare chewable. I take two a day along with supplements as deemed necessary by bloodwork, which you should have your doc do to determine what you need. (Complete vitamin assay) VBAC is very possible... do some research ont he net... lots of good info out there! Good luck and work on eating, take your vitamins, and don't worry (ha! Easier said than done, huh! :~) ) Sharon > I just found out that I am pregnant and have many questions. Guest guest
Beth, I had my surgery a month before you did. I was 254 and when I found I out I was pregnant I was 170. I gained 9 lbs with my pregnancy. I just had my baby 6 weeks ago. I have lost 34 lbs since I gave birth. I also had a c-section with my first baby and I had a vaginal delivery with this baby. It just all depends on how they made the incision with your c-section and how this birth goes. If they did a low transverse cut then you should be o.k. to have a VBAC. Talk to your Dr. and see what he/she says. Good luck with the pregnancy and don't worry about gaining any weight. I think a treadmill is a wonderful idea! I didn't exercise at all during my pregnancy, but I sure wish that I would have. I have no muscles at all. Tammy > I just found out that I am pregnant and have many questions. Guest guest
Beth, Welcome and congrats! I can't give much advice to you as this is my first pregnancy but I thought I would comment on some of your questions. I personally take chewable prenatal, I have taken them since my WLS on 7/2/01. I personally feel that chewing up my vitamins makes it more accessible for my body to absorb. I am not basing this on anything my doc has told me, it is just what I feel. So far now and prior to my pregnancy everything has looked good when I have had vitamin levels checked. If you can get a treadmill I would highly advise to do so. I have one and I think its great, both my husband and I use it often. It has been a big help especially since we have recently moved to Minnesota and the weather isn't that great to go walk outside, well, at least to us since we are used to a much warmer climate. Axelrod Many questions... I just found out that I am pregnant and have many questions. I had my RNY in August 2002. The nurse practioner advised me that a normal weight gain would be in the neighborhood of 25-35 pounds and this frightens me! Of course I want the baby to be healthy, but I am really freaked about putting on that much weight. Also, what about prenatal vitamins? Should they be chewable? I had a c-section in 1997-is it possible to have a vaginal delivery or is a c-section a guarantee? I'm wanting to purchase a treadmill to help-any thoughts? I am only 4 weeks pregnant and would love to hear from any experienced moms that have gone through the same thing... Thanks! Guest guest
Hi. My name is siotha. i am 27 weeks along. I was diagnosed pregnant at exactly 1 year post op. I was unable to consume more than 1200 calories per day. I found a juice that has a different kind of sugar and have upped it to 1800 calories per day. I have lost 20lbs since pregnancy and in the last month have possibly gained 2 lbs! (WAHOO) i've been going to nutritionists for the weight loss, and frankly they just don't understand. I cry because I want a cheeseburger from mcdonalds and worse is i dump after eating one so i cry then too. I find out next week if my baby has continuted to grow normally, at 22 weeks my last u/s showed a healthy fetus with 2 brain cysts (which we pray will go away) and a 2 vessel umbillical cord (these are not normally problems and will hopefully stay that way). As far as your questions go, normal weight gain/loss goes from -30lbs to +40lbs. As long as you concentrate on getting your prenatal vitamins, calcium (1200 mg + is good), and b12 suppliment you should be fine. I take rexall folic acid complete or something like that and it has been wonderful. It gives me all the b vitamins and folic acid one needs to make sure we absorb enough of it. Calcium i overdue, but i don't beleive there is too much calcuim when you only get 1800 calories on a good day. I worry to death about intrauterine growth retardation because of the lack of calories, but with a little bit of good eating I believe that anyone can have a healthy baby (maybe a bit small) after a gastric bypass. feel free to email me if you want. Siotha@... Many questions...
