Guest guest
Last night I called Shriner's because he just was fussy again and I had to give him a half dose of the Tylenol and codeine to get him to sleep. The resident said for the first 48 hours they are uncomfortable because the feet are in a position they've never been in before. This made sense to me since his feet used to point down and are now flat. His muscles and tendons would need to be stretched to allow his foot to be in this position. He and the nurse both said if he's not better today I should call back. I checked and re-checked his toes and the circulation is good, so I know the cast wasn't too tight. I tried keeping his feet elevated when he was sleeping too. When he woke up this morning he seemed much better. He didn't need to sleep as much during the day and he wasn't fussy. He was playing, laughing and napped his usual two hours during the day and went to sleep no problem tonight. He hasn't needed anything for pain today and I think he's fine now. Maybe for some kids there is pain for a couple of days afterward and that's normal. and 11/10/03 bilateral clubfeet
