Guest guest Posted January 9, 2004 Report Share Posted January 9, 2004 I know I mostly lurk, since we aren't pregnant at the moment.. but I just wanted to send a note of what was going on in my world. I will be 6 months post op on the 22nd.. and I am down from 265 to 174.. YAY!!! Yesterday, my DH and I went to see my Reproductive Endocrinologist.. I hadn't seen him since last May.. when we decided to try for the gastric surgery. So, I talked with him about the game plan, how my periods are normal.. and he's very pleased and was very encouraging! He wants to do just a couple more cycles of Gonal-F, then IUI.. when we had left off in May, it was that we were going to try IVF.. so he wants to give the IUI's another go.. I have a 6 month check-up with my surgeon on the 30th.. and I can't wait to find out what he has to say about when we can get back on the baby bandwagon.. Plus, It was SOOOO nice to hear some wonderful compliments coming from the staff... I have always adored them... but they were just amazed!!! Anyway.. congrats to those who are preggers.. If you don't mind me asking....ho much does that run and what are th chances of getting pregnant soon taking it? Thanks in advance. Any info is appreciated. Guest guest Posted January 10, 2004 Report Share Posted January 10, 2004 It's an injectible.. And it's pretty expensive.. luckily my insurance covers it.. But when I didn't have insurance, it was costing between $2000 -$2500 a month.. and that's just medication alone. The chances of getting pregnant on it is great!!! Though.. before surgery, my weight was causing a LOT of problems.. and even with the injectibles I wasn't ovulating like I was supposed to. My doc feels very confident now.. and we are going to start on a low dose of the injectibles.. I am interested to see how the medication will effect my body now that it's considerably smaller. My doc used this analogy - Take a drop of red dye and put it into a full glass.. doesn't make much tinting. Now, if you take that same drop and put it into a half- filled glass - it makes a much greater impact.
