Especially if you were to take her in and the doc says casting won't work and to go directly to the ATTT. This says even with the ATTT, casting is important to get the foot into the right position first. Wow, this is a good one to save for other parents to reference. Thank you for sending it to the list! Is it just me or is Dr. Frick slacking a little lately? Am I thinking of a different Dr? He's in NY right? Although they are very qualified I do remember reading that some parents have been having some problems. A mom from the other clubfoot board called me with some questions regarding her son. She said her 6 month old sees Dr. Feldman and they have said the casting has not worked and he will need surgery. She mentioned to him that she sholud e-mail Dr. Ponseti and get his opinion and Dr. Feldman said " Dr. Ponseti would never say a child needs surgery. " I found this very upseting and told her so. I know that is not the case and hope she doesn't give in to unnecessary surgery before consulting with Dr. Ponseti. I encouraged her to join this board but have not seen any postings from her as of yet. She sounded like she was ready to give in and asked me when do you finally give up on the Ponseti approach and opt for surgery. My response was " When Dr. Ponseti says so. He's the one who put poor ( K's baby) through so much hell with the DBB after not fully correcting him and not examining his feet after casting. That's very strange if you ask me... I haven't been very impressed with the reports coming back lately from a doc who is supposed to be so great and their whole center is supposed to be Ponseti right? And with what you've said... it seems worse. Then again I have and idea Darbi's doc would say something similar (remember, apparently it's AFO land out here because babies aren't tolerating the DBB - grrrr... still gotta find out about that one but I missed Darbi's appointment and she's not being seen till Jan now). I hated it. When Dr. Von Stein told me that we had pretty much wasted our time and money with it since Kelsey's foot was not where near corrected, I wanted to kick myself and the previous Doctor. I seem to remember hearing that it was somewhere in the $ 1500 - $ 2500 dollar range....hmmmm...makes you wonder!
