Guest guest
Hi !! I don't know that his increased appetite has anything to do with the bar but we also had major nursing issues when Ethan got his bar. I found that the most comfortable position for us was either lying down or sitting up with him on his side. So that he would not have his leg unsupported, I just put my arm through the bar and supported it for him. That is still the way that he likes to nurse best and he is going on 9 months old, though he doesn't nurse quite as much now that I am pregnant again!! I guess it tastes different! Good Luck!! Guest guest
Youve got some great responses to nursing positions. I just wanted to add that the increase could be a comfort issue for the baby if nothing else. My Elijah nursed more often when he transitioned to the shoes and I felt it made him feel better during the change. Guest guest
, it could be a growth spurt, or it could be " comfort " nursing - your son seeking some comfort from this strange thing that is happening to him right now. The amazing thing about nursing is that your body produces milk based on supply and demand - so if he's demanding more, with in a day or two your body will increase to meet his needs, pumping or not. Be sure to drink lots and lots of water though to help your body produce, and eat healthy foods. Nursing with the DBB on can be a little cumbersome but it's only been a few days, please give it time, you both will adjust and find your comfort zone, I promise. My son put on the DBB at 8 weeks old and I still nurse him now at 13 months old. Many of us here breast feed our babies, we'll give you all the support and advice we can muster to help you make this adjustment. Breast feeding really is best, you know that, so hang in there, it really does get easier. One thing I do remember doing is laying one of our bed pillows on my lap, then laying the baby on that and kind of holding the whole pillow up to my breast when he was very small. I also liked (still like) to lay down while I nurse him. You may try sitting somewhat sideways on your sofa and using the football hold so his legs are more behind you....just be creative....he'll grow quickly and you both will get it figured out. s. My 10 week old son got the DBB 3 days ago and all of a sudden went from eating 4 ounces of milk to 5.5-6 ounces of milk. Is this just a growth spurt that coincided with the bar or is it possible he is burning many more calories now because of the weight of the bar? Has anyone else had this problem? I am having difficulty nursing with the bar and cannot keep up with his demand while pumping. If any nursing positions have worked for you please share them!!
