For those that have heard me complain about my abdominal pain, My bariatric

surgeon has determined that it is a partial bowel obstruction caused by scar

tissue. I am 12 weeks pregnant and I will be going in for surgery early next

week to fix things up. I opted mot to wait until after I deliver, for many

reasons.

I have a 1-2% chance of losing the baby.

If you can, please say a prayer for me.

Thanks,

We will be praying for you and your little one. My mom has had side pain

and her surgeon thinks it's caused by adhesions, so I know how painful that

can be for people. I had my gullbladder taken out in my 2nd trimester and

did well and so did baby, so I know your little one will do just fine!

What type of pain have you had? I have been in the ER fro 2 nights with such

bad what feels like massive sinching gas I cant stand it. It radiates to my

lower back. They did an abdominal ultrasound and blood work and say it is

gastritis but It continues. I am feeling a milder version tonight. Any input

is

great thank you? How far out of surgery are you?

Thank you stacey

I am not sure who you were asking this question to, but since I have been having

abdominal pain, I guess I am slilghtly qualified to answer. Mine started this

past August, and I was about a year out from surgery. I believe mine is trapped

gas, but I think it is being trapped from how the baby is laying. I also find

that if I know I am going to eat something that has been known to cause me gas

in the past, I take some gas-x before hand, and if I do get the pain it is only

mild, and I can soak in a warm tub and it tends to stop the pain. My ob

specialist thinks I might have adhesions on my intestines, and when the baby

moves around he is pushing on them. I will find out in about 3 weeks after I

give birth. I guess we would have both been correct if I no longer have the

pain.

Same thing happened to me. I went to the ER with thehorrible pain and they said

I was fine. I am post op- 15 months. I am going into the hospital for the

surgery to fix the situation tomorrow. I am hoping my bariatric surgeon looks

around good for anything and everything that might be causing the pain. I would

hate to go thru this and still have the pain and then have to go back for a

hernia repair in 7 months. My bariatric dr says that it is a partial bowel

obstruction caused by scar tissue. Unfortunatley there are no tests that they

can do to diagnose this. I have been going thru the pain and there is no end in

sight, so I opted to have the surgery now, even thought there are risks to the

baby.

Good Luck and I will let you know how it goes for me.

FYI, a heating pad has been a saving grace for me. You may want to try it.

Stacey,

I had pain that I thought was gas, it hurt about 45 minutes after I ate

and sometimes it hurt if my stomach was empty. Even water seemed to

give me gas pain that would start in the front and then work its way to

my back. I was like that for a year and finally gave in and went to the

Dr. My PCP sent me to my surgeon who sent me to a gastrologist. He

found that I had an ulcer in my small intestine. They put me on

carafate and protonix and my pain went away almost immediately. Now I

only have pain when I forget to take the meds, but it only takes a

couple of minutes for the pain to go away after I take the carafate.

Apparently ulcers are not uncommon for us WLS patients.

I had my surgery 4 years ago yesterday.

Hi a,

Thanks for your thoughts....I agree with you - if he doesnt seem to

be interested in leaving the crib, I cant imagine he will. My friends

who have kids the same age that have moved them to the bed had the

kind of kids that were actively trying to create escape routes!

Thankfully mine is content to sit and play with her 5 milion stuffed

animals till I come get her.

I know what you mean about feeling bad that your kids know you are

sick. It has to be hard - you dont want them to grow up thinking that

they were a burden or anything like that. But I think you made a

fantastic point - you are actually spending quality time with your

kids - it may not always be spent bouncing up and down...but thats

not what matters most. You're there- thats what counts. One more

thing - I think what you are doing is wonderful - taking in a foster

child - I know it can be difficult, but you are truly saving soem

childs life. Hopefully in the future, I will be able to adopt or do

something similar.

take care
