Guest guest
I have heard also that it is determined by the paternal side of your of your family, also in nursing school, indentical twins are classified as a birth defect, not a bad one of course, but because its not within the norm for the egg to seperate into 2 seperate dividing cells, but non indentical twins are just the luck of the draw because as women age they sometimes spit out more than one egg. Guest guest
, I was very infertile for years and took clomid to try to concieve WITHOUT success. I took in my cousins baby that we thought with luck we would be adopting (did not turn out that way though ) but right after I had to give her back to her mother I found out I was pregnant for the twins ( identical) ON MY OWN What a shock to say the least. I took clomid 2 years later to get my daughter and then I have been pregnant 3 times since on my own, 2 were miscarraiges and then this pregnancy which is 11 1/2 weeks. So who knows who willl have what anymore, lol, I never thought I would have any kids, much less twins first time around. And by the way, they do not run in my family either. Guest guest
Hi ! I am also pregnant with twins at the moment. I Have no sets of twins in my or my husbands family--And I had my tubes tied. So I really think it isn't so much heredity as it is chance.(in my case anyway) Good luck to you--but i promise even if you only have one baby and not twins You will be the happiest woman in the world! Guest guest
I read somewhere that the chances of multiples increase with age. I am 32 and this is my first child. Just wondering what my chances are of twins in a few years. Can I ask what is the oldest pregnancy here? My mother had me when she was 40 and I know of a couple of other women who had their first in their early 40's.

Guest guest
I too got pregnant 9 months post op frm WLS. And boy was it a shock! But everything has gone weel and my little Rhianna Marie Atkins should be arriving in about 4 more weeks. , I wasn't able to conceive after the birth of my daughter almost 10 years ago from PCOS and then after WLS, I got pregnant at 9 months post-op with triplets unfortunately I miscarried them but nonetheless multiples do not run in either family and they were conceived naturally. It totally baffled my OB. Best wishes to you! DE RNY 10/16/02 Katelyn 6/94 Miscarriage w/triplets 9/03 EDD#2 8/2/
Guest guest
I have also read (I can't remember where) that there is a dramatically increased occurance of mulitples after wls, particularly in women who were infertile pre-op. Even in the little article at the opening page of this site, the report shows far more multiples than than the national average, and these are for women with no fertility drugs. Not sure why though... neither my OB nor my surgeon had any answer as to why. Luckily I have a singleton, I was scared to death since my maternal grandmother is a twin and has another set of twin siblings. I am scared enough since this is my first pregnancy... not sure I could have handled two.
Guest guest
, I really wish i knew the answer to that question!! I was more shocked than anyone when i got the news! But, it happened and I am truly thrilled now--of course i feel very overwhelmed as well. I already have 3 children my youngest being 17 months old and he will be 22 months old when the twins are born. I can't even begin to imagine life with a toddler and twins!! I am trying to figure out a way that i could find out what went wrong with my tubal ligation-- Does anyone know if your tubes are visible on one of those 4D ultrasounds>? - In OSSG-pregnant , " poisonlaura1 " wrote: > -You had your tubes tied and now pregnant with twins?
