Guest guest
Hi , I am having trouble with my insurance but not about the shoes. I found out early on that they would not pay a dime towards the DBB. If they pay for the doctor, I have no problem paying for the DBB. But now they are giving me problems with the doctors!!!! Anyway, it costs us $140.00.not sure if that is what it costs everywhere.I think it would be the same though. Guest guest
Our insurance would pay for the bar and not the shoes so the first pair of Markells that we have cost us about $85.00. Guest guest
I think we all need to contact someone about these insurance companies. Our children are rapidly growing, and need these shoes. The shoes aren't that expensive, it's the principle. We have insurance, this should be covered. I could see if the child could at least wear them for 6mos-year. Liana hajtovik@... wrote: I have Aetna us healthcare, EPO and they would not cover the shoes...only the bar. Guest guest
I have not been on this board much, however I thought I would offer may experience. In the state of North Dakota the diagnosis of club foot qualifies you for Medicade regardless of income. It only covers issues to do with the club foot that insurance does not cover. IE doctor bills not covered by insurance, the DBB, ect. I am not sure how it is in other states, but it has been a blessing for use. > I'm getting nervous reading about everybody having trouble with > their insurance paying for the DBB. Guest guest
Thanks so much for that information. I hadn't thought of contacting the state to cover these costs. I live in Pa. and they have a childrens program for medical. I will have to look into that. We have four children, thats why buying the DBB would be expensive to us. I do not work, but my husband has us on his military family plan, so I never thought of getting help elsewhere. I will be making a phone call on Monday! Guest guest
S, I Believe if you had insurance like a good amount of us do, you would be concerned with payments a s well. My husband is paying $200.00 a month for coverage. Of course we all care about our children and would do anything we have to do, to get them what they need. I am sorry you have NO insurance, but everyone is not RICH. Let's be real having children is expensive, even w/o having medical problems. I don't want my son to miss out on the extra thing's I have done with my older children because I have to put our extra money into buying his DBB, when I know D well the insurance company should be paying for them. Majority of the money that most people put into insurance doesn't even get used. Why shouldn't we fight for what is right. The insurance company hasn't even looked into the fact that the DBB is for infants growing every day. All they see is a code, and until we step up, there will always be a problem with payment. Sorry, for going on and on but this really gets beneath my skin. Liana Number23 number23@...> wrote: We have NO insurance. You just do what you gotta do and pay what you gotta pay for your kids. Guest guest
We have insurance but as I have found out with the pile of medical bills on the dining room table, they only cover 80 to 90 percent of things. We have hit the out of pocket max for so they are now covering everything. They actually cover the shoes but the orthotics company will not bill the insurance so I have to pay out of pocket and wait for the detailed bill so that I can submit it. We got our shoes and bar on the 18th of October and I still have not received the billing details. Shoes and bar were $132.00. Number23 number23@...> wrote:We have NO insurance. Guest guest
I don't know why other than they will not pay for any kind of orthotic shoes, etc for ANY reason. My mother works for a worker's compensation attorney and she says that it comes from the belief that you have to buy shoes anyway. So, the bar, I guess was billed as a brace so they will pay for that but under no circumstances will they pay for the shoes. I know it is insane. Ohio has a plan called the Bureau for children with medical handicaps and they will help pay for the shoes or so I am told. I am going to look into what hoops I have to jump through to get it. The shoes are really the first major obstacle in the clubfoot treatment that we have come up against them not paying, although we did have to pay 20 % for a useless piece of **** AFO brace.
