Thank God I stopped nursing when he was one month. My son was born 7/30/04, what

a coincidence.

Jordan is doing the same thing. He sticks his hand so far into his mouth that

he gags himself. Poor guy. We have been able to see the tooth buds on the top

since he was a month old. He will be three months old on the 19th but still

hasn't popped them through yet. My first son didn't teeth this early. I am

also nursing and not looking forward to those little teeth biting me.

was born on 7/20/04 and on his 2 month check up he was 14.5 pounds. He

too is chomping on his fist. I am not looking forward to the biting either!

Sorry I am just getting on the computer this morning, thank God my dh goes to

school as well as work. He has this new game Everquest, I barely get hug before

he is back on this computer. n does have RCF as well, he is doing fine

expect for the teething issuse, of course. I have been trying to wait for the

insurance for his new shoes, but Monday I am going to have to go and just get

them on my own. His little toes are starting to hang over the shoe(left foot

only). His left foot is about a 1/2 in. bigger than the right one. n is

pretty big I guess, but my oldest son was born weighing 10lbs., so n is

pretty light to me. He's probably about 15-16 lbs. now. How was your night with

Grace?

Still wondering about something to put on her gums...one of my

friends mentioned something from a health food store that was

If she bites you when she nurses give her a little flip on the nose and tell her

no! . ... a time or two of that and she'll get the hint. Teething, or teeth,

is no reason to stop breast feeding

Evy is 13 months with 8 teeth. A few biting episodes early on, but I quickly

trained him away from that idea. Even so I'd rather take a little nip once in a

while than pay the price of formula and all the inconvenience that comes with

using bottles! haha

For what it's worth, is 14 months and still nursing like

crazy. She has 8 teeth and I haven't been bitten yet! I alos

nursed my twins for 13 months and only got bitten twice by my son.

I weaned them that week. Hopefully none of you will suffer the

biting stage

Thanks and that's o.k. about the spelling. My husband has x-box as well. I have

been married before to a real jerk. I complain at times about the games, but all

in all I am happy he is at home and not out in the street. He actually chose to

lay down, before getting on here until 1a.m. I usually catch up on e-mails at

nightime feedings. I don't know if the insurance company will reimburse, I will

check on that. I looked at the shoes on that site as well, they are cute. I like

ordering some thing's on line. It's not fun going to the store with four kids.

With my insurance through work, only the first pair of shoes and bar

Gracies left foot is definately bigger than her right as per usual,

walkers and will have to get a couple more pairs as a bundle of

Grace was born @ 8.4 and I thought I was going to pass out!! Mind you

I was induced so labour was hard and fast and I didn't have any pain

meds - with her having one kidney, didn't want to. But 10 pds,OOOUCH!

Naiomi posted a mess about a natural product for teething, I think it

is the one my friend had mentioned, I am going to try it for sure,

not a happy little girl last night and I hate to give her tylenol if

I don't absolutely have to. She seems fine during the day but lately

at night - FUSSY!

There *is* a reason they get their bottom teeth first... as a nursling's

tongue sits over the gum/teeth when nursing. So those first teeth

shouldn't be a problem, but the upper ones are a bit sharp. You can get

past teething, no problem. Just pull in so they can't breathe for a second

and they let go, and take them off and say sternly " no, do not bite mama "

every time they do it. Eventually it won't be a problem at all. If baby

insists on biting then put him/her down and walk away. They get it that if

they want the mokie, they can't bite the mama.

This is the standard advice for teething and biting - I'm sure there's

others out there. I can't say I recommend it... but these things combined

with a little flick... sure did the trick for me with all three (except

Darbi always, and still laughs when I'm in pain. Really strange...)

Ladies,

You don't need to wean, or worry about weaning because of teeth. Biting is

something that most of them do, and you can stop it and continue to give

them your milk as long as you want. I posted earlier with some

suggestions, I just wanted to say that you shouldn't worry so much about it

or plan to wean because of it. Marilouise is lucky, as most bite somewhere

around 4mo with the first teeth. They also will bite at the end of a feed,

so if the suck slows down and they bite you it often means they're

done. They're just playing around. Watch for this pattern, it's very common.

I read that a baby can't bite and nurse at the same time... Biting means they

are not nursing so take them off, tell them booby time is eating time and

make them wait a little while before going again. Just what i read, can't

have you tried frozen washcloths?

Y'all are going to hate me... but I have the most amazing kids when it

comes to teething. They are never fussy, never cry, never nothing but a

bit of drool and when they're really little they like to chew on

things. Darbi has been getting 4 incisors and a couple of molars for the

past 3-4w and the only reason I know is I can see them, it's time, and

she's drooling. All 3 of mine would just pop a tooth out (or two within a

few days of each other) and I'd be surprised as all heck if I didn't see

the drool. So I don't have much advice, but the washcloths are easy and

fun for baby and may help some.

I know... I hear teething can be pretty stressful and no fun. Sorry!
