Hi , I am new to the group and saw where your little one had his

tenotomy today. I am so glad he did well. I am nervous about Logan having it

done. My Logan was born on 07/12/2004 and we are just now on the 3 rd set of

cast per say. We had some trouble with other doctors in the begining but doing

fine now. Four months old today and still wakes up every hour during the night.

have a good weekend. paula mother to logan 07/12/2004 bicf 3rd set of cast.

be horrified but let me explain.

The whole way there I had every intention of having them give him a local. The

last thing I want is my child to be in pain of ANY kind - he's been through

enough. The doctors group we go to are the most kind hearted and truly care

about the children they treat as well as the parents. They assured me it

doesn't hurt him any more than giving the local as babies central nervous system

isn't as developed. Yes, they feel a little pain but no more than they'd feel

with the shot. It's very quick and from their experience kids act no difference

with or without the local in this scenario. I trust my doctors and let them do

it their way.

I went to the waiting room. 25 minutes later Dr Kahn came and got me. I walked

back and Aidan had been cleaned up, his diaper changed, clothes back on, new

casts on, the nurse was rocking him and he was sound asleep (snoring). We had

an hour 1/2 drive home and he slept the whole way. He woke up fussy (but not

screaming) I fed him and he's back asleep. Honestly, it hasn't been any

different than one of our casting days. We'll see what tonight brings but so

far so good. I did give him some baby Advil right before the procedure.

Since, it was something new I thought I'd share it. I also found out today, that

they have discussed the matter with Dr. P and he agrees. Anyway, thought it was

very interesting.

WOW!!!!

I had the local for my little girl and she cried the entire time, from the

minute they gave her the local until it was done; she stopped during the

casting. It was a very traumatic experience for me. She cried more when they

released the tendon. I hope that she didn't feel anything. I'm sure she did,

however, as a parent, and then viewing the procedure, seeing her cry like that

was so painful.

I understood then why at home when she had her first one, they took her away for

a general.

I commend you on your strength!
