Hi, Juli, and welcome.

It's a shame you are having trouble getting consistent care for

Bethany. In a way, though, it's good that the doctor you've seen is

willing to admit he's not capable of handling it well.. Clubfoot is a

complicated enough condition that it requires a doctor very skilled

and experienced in treating it.

Can you tell us what part of the country you are in? Hopefully we can

help guide you. Your daughter is at an age at which it's important to

get on track soon..

If her feet aren't fully corrected, there's no way the DBB shoes will

be comfortable for her, and also won't do any good..

Here is a good place to start for gathering info, and to learn about

the Ponseti method of treatment and doctors who are skilled in it:

Hi Juli

From what I have read from other posts, when a child develops blisters from

the shoes it means their foot is not fully corrected. I agree with Theresa.

If you post where what area of the country you live in they will be able to

direct you to the closest doctor.

Hello everyone. My name is July and my daughter Bethany (6mo old)

has club feet. Very severe. Her feet have been corrected to a point

but for some reason the Dennis Brown Shoe makes blisters on her

ankles. Her current doctor referred us to Shriners but it's

difficult to get there on a regular basis so they referred us back

to our local doctor. My husband, daughter, and I just made a second

trip to Shriners at the current orthopedists request and he hadn't

even sent information to them. My ped informed me that the local

doctor doesn't really want the case. Any suggestions. I'm feeling

like she's not getting very good care anymore and I'm pretty angry

about the whole situation. Thanks for any support, Juli

Juli - don't walk, RUN from those doctors!!!! Your baby at 6 months still has

time for a proper correction, even with severe feet!!!! It's worth the drive to

a ponseti certified dr. or Ponseti himself. Time is ticking though and you

only have one shot to do this right before these quacks mess her up for

life...people come from all over the world to Iowa. We drive 12 hours. Others

drive for days....if there's a will there's way. Look up Angel Flights for

help.

juli,

It's definately true. You do need to find a Ponseti certified Dr.,

or Dr. Ponsetti himself. We started our daughter's treatment with

Dr. Ponseti at 6 1/2 mo. old. Our first doctor was at a dead end

with her as well. She had very severe atypical club feet. After 4

casts and a tenotomy with Dr. Ponseti, her feet were corrected. He

is amazing! She has been it the shoes now for about 4 wks.

You won't regret traveling the extra distance to seek the most

experienced Dr. to help your baby's feet. Trust me, it will be worth

it.

Good luck with everything!
