Guest guest
, Jonah did not have his tenotomies performed until he was about 8 months old(after having already done a 2 month stint of 23/7 FAB wear). At that point, he was already crawling and pulling to a stand. His doctor felt that weight bearing was very good therapy, so we did 2 months of 22/7 then a month of 20/7 then down to 18/7 etc. We would make sure that his time out of the bar was when he would be most active pulling up, cruising the furniture, playing in the johnny jump-up. This seems to have worked out for him very well. Be vigilant in watching your son's feet for any signs of relapse. How much less than the 23 hours is Dr Frick telling you to do? Best to you and yours. We are doing very well in them and he has been wearing them for 9 weeks. He actually had his tenotomy in April, but had a lot of problems with the Markells, developed an ulcer, and ended back up in casts. I emailed pics to Ponsetti, who referred us to a Dr. Frick in Charlotte to rule out atypical clubfoot. Dr. Frick was wonderful. He said Gabe's foot looked great and had terrific dorsiflexion. He only noted that the left heel is a little small, and reccommended for us to not wear the brace as much. He feels that Gabe's foot needs more weight bearing to stimulate bone growth. He knew that he has not been in the sandals for 3 months. Anyone else been told this? Isn't ironic, if a doctor had told me to wear the brace less when we were in the Markells, I would of kissed them. Now I am nervous to leave him out of it! This dr was trained by Ponsetti and comes highly rec from Ponsetti himself. Just seeing if anyone else has ever been told this. Guest guest
I would email Dr. Ponseti himself and let him know what Dr. Frick recommended and see what his opinion is. Guest guest
I've never heard of that before but you may want to email Dr. Ponseti directly to get his take on it. Couldn't hurt!
