Guest guest Posted September 24, 2004 Report Share Posted September 24, 2004 Hi All, I think I mentioned that while doing research on orphans in China with clubfoot, I came across several organizations here in the US who arrange trips to China with medical staff to do surgeries on orphans. Mostly they do cleft lip/palate and heart surgeries, but also clubfoot surgeries. I've sent emails to any organization I located (even one in VietNam) about the Ponseti method. Turns out that Love without Boundaries http://lovewithoutboundaries.com/ is already in the planning stages to make a trip next spring to train doctors in the Ponseti method. They have translated the Ponseti Booklet into Chinese and posted it on their website temporarily for the Chinese doctors to download. They had even discovered that there are two doctors in Shanghai on Dr. POnseti's list. I gave them the contact info. for Dr. Pirani and Dr. Herzenberg as well. Just wanted to let you know! The internet is a powerful tool! Who would've thought last February that in such a short time the Ponseti method would be spreading to India and China, the 2 countries which account for the vast majority of clubfoot births each year, most of which go untreated!
