I did address the issues with the clothes...REPEATEDLY...That is why I am

sure they will make me look bad. I went so far as to cry on my video diary I

was

so frustrated. I really got a lot less than 2 days to shop.

They wouldn't let me get a Playtex nursing bra because it was one

specific bra that they were advertising for Playtex. I couldn't even have

gotten a playtex bra that comes in my size because it would have been a

different

style than the one they were paid to advertise.

I tried to give them my rules but mostly they ignored me. I pitched

a HUGE fit about it. They said that most people do so I wasn't the first and

I wouldn't be the last. It is very disapointing to think that you will get to

spend $5000.00 on clothes in NYC only to find that most of the clothes you

have to choose from are unfit for your lifestyle and that your favorite clothes

are trashed.

They kept calling a short skirt and heels the " Mommy on the Go " look.

Gimme a break. Maybe some moms dress that way (other than for work)....not

me. My mommy on the go look consisted of jeans, tennis shoes and a washable

shirt with my hair out of the reach of little baby fingers. Now it consists of

a

short skirt (rule:skirt must be above knee length to make me look taller), 3

inch pointy heels (rule: pointy shoes make you look taller) and about 3 layers

of mostly dry clean only shirts (rule: layers make you look pulled together).

The show sounds great...I was SO EXCITED before I went. It is hard to

imagine how dissapointed I was once I figured it out. I really cannot describe

how

different and dissapointing it was behind the scenes. Put it this way...I

spent over an hour getting in and out of a taxi so they could film it from EVERY

angle. That was just one event. I spent many hours walking in and out of

stores so they could film it from every POSSIBLE angle. Everything was like

that.

Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat for HOURS of filming. NOT FUN. I just

wanted to shop, but there was very little time for that with all of the filming.

I

was totally unprepared.

I will tell you when the show airs, but most of it is one big LIE. What is

TLC's motto? " Life Unscripted " There was a script. and Clinton have

writers and lines to memorize and stylists to pick the clothes for them.

Oh well. I am sure they will twist and edit everything just the way they

want to.

Hi ,

I love it! The paragraph where Kaitlin gets to spit on your Cashmere sweater!

:)

Keep me posted on your show! I'd love to tape it and watch it !!!

I went to NY to film an episode of TLC's " What Not to Wear. "

Overall it was alot of work. The show does not show what actually

goes on...AT ALL. I was totally unprepared. I spent 90% of the time

filming and only 5% shopping. There are off camera stylists that

pick the clothes for you while filming. It wasn't like I could

really pick most things. I could refuse to buy the clothes, but with

such limited time and stores...what was the point? The goal is to

spend 5000.00 in 2 days, if you dont' then you lose the $ and have

nothing to show for it.

Most everthing they wanted me to buy was " Dry Clean Only " I had a

huge problem with that because aside from being a mother, I have no

where to wear fancy clothes. I am an RN, all I wear to work are

scrubs. I must say I got about 80% Dry clean only clothes and 8

pairs of high heels. They swear that the heels are comfortable, but

I already have massive blisters on my feet.

and Clinton were alright. I must admit that Clinton is much

nicer than by alot. They really wouldn't associate with me

between taping, they had their own room to retreat into between

scenes.

For the beginning of the show they do as much as possible to make me

look worse than I actually did. They used lighting and makeup tricks

to do that. For the 360 mirror, they picked the worst outfits

ever...so bad that I actually refused to wear some of the things they

wanted me to. The show was not all I thought it would be. It really

was not very much fun to say the least. It was an experience that I

will never forget and I did end up with a cool wardrobe that I will

hardly get to wear. ALthough on the show I say how great it is and

stuff about how happy I was, like they wanted me too..

They also made me spend 8 hours taping a piece in Macy's about a

Playtex bra that isn't even made in my size and that is not made for

nursing moms like me. Even though the bra was way too small, I still

had to pretend like I bought it because it was some stealth

advertising deal with Playtex. So much for reality tv. What Not to

Wear is basically an advertising show. I can't believe I never

realized that before.

Nick Arrojo was great though. He hacked my hair and although it

looked beautiful after he spent 3 hours styling it, it looks like

crap now because what mother has that much time to put into it? I

spent an hour this morning trying to fix it without success and I

can't pull it into a ponytail anymore. He fixed the color nicely

though. The color is much better than it was before.

I hate to sound negative, because I learned alot about fashion, but

most of it did not apply to my life. I hear that the show makes

people who buck them look like meanies, and I garantee I complained

ALOT so they will most likely make me look bad on TV.

But who am I to complain? Kaitlin gets to spit up on $250.00 cashmere

sweaters and I can chase her around wearing $400.00 Siegerson

on leather high heels while constantly brusing my hair out of

my face.

I will also be in Redbook magazine in December. It might be November

or January though.

The show won't air for atleast 8 weeks. They will let me know when.

Just an update for those who are interested.

Awww , I'm so sorry that your experience was not as great as

it could have been. Did you get a chance to address your issues with

the clothes? Did you actually only get 2 days to shop? Which days

did they send you shopping? And why wouldn't they let you get a

Playtex NURSING bra?

So, were you allowed to give them some 'rules' of stuff you wouldn't

or couldn't wear? LOL!

Well, if nothing else, you can be the best dressed mom at Kaitlin's

daycare!

Ok, wow. I never would have imagined it to be like that. Anyone

who wants to turn me in can get it right out of their head now.

You'd think they'd want you to get a wardrobe that is stylish but

that fits your lifestyle. I don't think I'll watch the show the

same way again. Let us know when your episode will be on so we can

check it out!

Hi ,

Oh, what a bummer! It's amazing what editing can do to make shows

look so fantastic.

Sorry it wasn't as cool a trip as hoped for. Still let us know when

it airs and then you can tell us how much they changed what REALLY

happened!

Dang, sorry to hear your big adventure was a big flop. I guess you could sell

all the stuff on ebay now! :)Then go buy yourself what you do want!

Oh well. I am sure they will twist and edit everything just the way they

want to.

Hey -

Thanks so much for sharing the " real scoop " with us! That is horrible that

you don't even do the real shopping! What did you do with your daughter that

whole time? Did they have someone to watch her while you did the filming?

How was she treated? Please let us know when it airs, so we can watch you!

Sorry the experience was less than fun and what a bummer that you can't do

your hair. Sounds like it was all a waste of time! I propably won't watch

the show (except when you are on) anymore now knowing it isn't really real!

My husband went with us to watch her. It was really stressful because I

would tell them what time she was supposed to eat and it would always be late by

like an hour before we could stop and feed her. They actually had the nerve

to interupt me and tell me I was needed on the set! She adapted well to the

situation and all of the attention though. They just don't care.

Perfect example, we did the " afterlife " party tonight. Scheduled for 6:30

(rescheduled from Friday) and my friends and family were at the place, I showed

up at 9:00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to the director! Did they

care that it was a school nite and everyone had to wait 2 1/2 hours at the

restuarant??? NO!

I had horrible bra lines in my outfit tonight (thanx to some other brand of

bra that is way TOO SMALL, NON NURSING they bought me without letting me try

it on first), I am sure they show on camera, but I couldn't change bras because

and Clinton were not here to okay it...they are in Paris. Well Golly

Gee....I am sure I felt and looked great other than the lines across THE MIDDLE

OF my chest where the cups are so small they don't even cover my nipples.

But hey the bra sure squeezed the heck out of my boobs and made them look bigger

than the D they already are on my 5'1 " frame...like I needed them to look any

bigger, GEEZ! I already look like I am about to fall over, thanx to all that

milk in them!

SO GLAD THAT THIS IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO

ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!

Holy Moly - that is very cool. I know the experience was totally

peaches and cream, but it was definitely an experience you'll never

forget. Please, please, please tell us ahead of time when it is

going to air - I would LOVE to watch it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL about the spit-up on cashmere! :)
