Guest guest
I'm sure your neurologist appointments get very complicated at times. Is Dr. Whiteman a neurologist? I was just wondering, because Dr. Cohen is a neuro, and Grace also saw another metabolic doctor once who was also a neurologist. It seems that this is a common relation in the specialty. Maybe if you ask for a preventative medication instead of pain control they will get what you are asking for. Periactin does not really do anything once the migraine is there, it just helps prevent them. I noticed in your response to another person how you said Asthena rubs her head even when playing. Grace does that also, but not as much since being on the Periactin. It is such a hard thing watching your child play, yet know they are in pain. I was just getting so worried watching her hit her head on the wall and on the coffee table. It finally got to the point, one day, where she would not even move an inch on the couch when I had enough of it. At first I thought it was an ear infection, took her to the doctor, nothing wrong. I soon figured out (after calling Cohen) that the days episodes were because of a really bad migraine. I knew she had been having headaches, but did not realize how bad they could be for such a little person. He prescribed the Periactin over the phone and she has not missed a dose yet. Best wishes for you and the gang. I hope they can figure something out for her. It is so sad to see these kids go through this disease, to start with, and then know they live in pain.
