Stacey, We went through the same thing. Wyatt would take 45

minutes to eat half a meal. We could never get enough food in him

and he would tire taking all of his meds. At age 6 months we were

told he should probably have a feeding tube. At 4 years 11 months

we finally put one in. We just were so tired of worrying about his

calories and having to go in for dehydration all the time. It has

been the best thing for us/Wyatt. Now we give all of his meds via

tube and so then he can concentrate on eating. He has gained a 1/2

lb in the month since we had it put in. Last year he only gained a

1/2 pound for the year. It was a tough decision for us, but we are

so glad we did it. We now know we can get food in him no matter how

he feels. I hope Sheldon is feeling better and taking some fluids

at least.

Oh, one last thing g-tube and feeding tube are usually

interchangeable. People use either term. I'm not sure what the

correct " medical " term is. Also we are all new at this so don't be

embarassed to ask questions. That is what this group is for.
