Guest guest
Hi all: Months ago, my son would take a multi-vitamin everyday without any protest. At that time I was giving him a brand I found at Costco (no preservatives, yeast or gluten). Then I switched him to Schiff's chewables . He took those for a while, then all of a sudden started spitting them out. Now I'm trying Super Nu Thera -liquid. I put it in juice and his " radar " has detected it - he will not drink the juice! Any suggestions on how I can hide the flavor of it or maybe should I try another brand? -Thanks!
Guest guest
- I stopped giving SNT after starting enzymes, but when I gave it I put it in a small amount of juice (I used the powder) and mixed it then gave it to my daughter with a medicine dropper. This way I could squirt it into the back of her mouth so she didn't taste it as much. She didn't like it at first but it didn't take long for her to accept it. -- In @y..., fstatum@c... wrote: > Hi all: > > Months ago, my son would take a multi-vitamin everyday without any protest. Guest guest
: I wondered if I should even give him SNT since he's been on enzymes. I think I'll just nix it altogether and stick with just enzymes. Luckily, I only ordered a sample of the stuff. - [ ] Re: son hates SNT-any suggestions? - I stopped giving SNT after starting enzymes, but when I gave it I put it in a small amount of juice (I used the powder) and mixed it then gave it to my daughter with a medicine dropper. Guest guest
I will send you the file on Mixing Suggestions and you might find something in there. Like the dropper to help kill the taste, a straw may work if you keep it near the back of your mouth before sucking the stuff down. Also, have him try holding his nose while he takes it. Smell has a lot to do with our sense of taste. .
Guest guest
Thanks for the tips ! The challenge is that my son is only 2 1/2 --so it might be a little hard to get him to hold his nose. I think the smell is really what makes it so unappealing. Thanks [ ] Re: son hates SNT-any suggestions? I will send you the file on Mixing Suggestions and you might find something in there. Guest guest
We had success for several years with mixing the SNT powder in fruit syrup (next to maple syrup in the grocery store). I gave it to him with a medicine syringe (get at drugstore). In my opinion, it's a real good idea to get out of the habit of mixing vitamins in his food as soon as possible, and just make vitamins a part of the daily routine that he knows he can't get out of. Try to make them as good tasting as you can, then insist on it. We had a little kicking and screaming at first, but my son got used to within a few days when we did this. Before this, he was starting to 'not' eat things and be suspicious of foods and drinks because he knew we were sneaking things in there - not good! He's nine now and slugs down his vitamins (liquid and pills) from Dixie cups twice a day. Guest guest
My son is the same way. I tried the SNT liquid and my son refuses to take it know matter what I put it in. HE smells all those B vitamins. It does smell and taste rather nasty I think too. However, I believe it is a great benefit to our children. Then I tried the powder but I still feel or should I say the Dr. we take our son to feels that there is something in the SNT that is setting him off. SO I wanted to change multi vitamins. I am still waiting for Brainchild supplements to arrive. But at this rate I will have to order the SNT again or just go without for awhile. Best of luck to you. Animal Parade I was told you can get at the Health Food Store. I still feel Kirkmans have great products for our kids and they really care about Autism. Just not all Austisic children are created equal and what works for one does not work for others. May God Bless All Our Efforts For The Sake Of Our Children!
