Acrocyanosis vs Central Cyanosis

Any deal with Cyanosis in their children?

Our son, 5mths, recently has been turning blue, thought to be triggered by heat loss. He will turn BLUE all over this includes his LIPS, back and belly, arms and legs. He looks like a big bruise. He is breathing ok when this happens.

I have been told that it could be a normal finding called Acrycyanosis but from what I can gather, Acrocyanosis, does not involve central parts of the body such as lips, head, or torso.

We are getting very agitated that this is happening more and more. Admittingly, it is mainly after we bath him or change his clothes. Keep in mind we do not live in a freezer but a rather WARM house. It just seems unreasonable to think that he's freezing and turns blue like this, even though, his hands were frigid this evening when it happened. He just gets SUPER cold with the slightest air exposure. Is this normal for an infant. I have other children and have never seen it in them. My 8 yr old was concerned about his brother this evening and asked me if it was a rash.

I read that Central Cyanosis is NOT normal even in infants.

Does anyone have any kind of information on this?

I am in desperate need of guidance. The ped. is not offering any different suggestions at this point besides a trasnient vasoconstriction of somesort.

I can't help but be concerned that he is sick in some way.

I mean, who turns blue just because they have taken off their clothes briefly, I know he's an infant but this is a little over the edge..

Thanks for any information you may be able to provide,
