Guest guest
I have never heard of the motrin only being used for a higher fever, interesting. As far as ibuprofen, Motrin, being safe, this is all we are supposed to use for her. For pain control she usually still only takes motrin, but when it is extreme we use prescription. In the hospital they use iv Toradol on her. But for home use we use straight Codeine. It is a level 3 or 4 narcotic without the Tylenol in it so only a hospital pharmacy is allowed to dispense it. We have to be extra cautious, though, because we first have to make sure it is mito safe, and then make sure it is metabolized through the kidneys not the liver. We have been known to make a couple of residents think about that one.
Guest guest
Thanks . I wonder about Motrin (Ibuprofen) drugs. Are they a problem for Mito people? I am just curious as it seems like so many times whenever my children have a fever with a virus or bacterial infection, usually with fevers around 101 or higher, once the fever clears, they end up in the hospital for days hooked up to IV fluids due to elevated Creatine Kinase levels. So my plan now is to give Tylenol when they are at 100-101 and Ibuprofen 101 and up to see if I can keep it better controlled. We just did this recently with both of them as they were fighting Strep Throat and, thank God, no muscle problems and no hospital stays. I just wonder if I should only give Ibuprofen when they have a fever? Even as low as 100 degrees. I always thought Ibuprofen was given when the fever is 101.5 or higher. Does anyone know?? Thanks for any help, Shirley, mom to and Jordan On Saturday, March 20, 2004, at 01:36 PM, albregra@... wrote: > I don't know why it is exactly a mito toxin.
