Guest guest
How can I know if he's having a seizure in his bedroom? Would apulse ox work due to changes in heart rate and/or breathing to notify me ofa seizure? Cindy, Yes, I use a pulse ox monitor at nite when Chelsea is having increased seizures. Usually the stiffening and movement alone is enough to cause it to alarm (and, yes, there are many false alarms), but her heart rate will skyrocket going into the seizure and then plummet coming out, she also tends to get cyanotic with stronger seizures. Guest guest
Cindy, Chelsea got a pulse ox monitor because of her sleep apnea and chronic desaturations during sleep. Her problems used to be much more pronounced, but have improved so I only use it when she is sick or having seizures. ( I can't stand it, really, I have visions of giving it a good beating like the fax machine in the movie Office Space) Chelsea has had a few sleep studies, all showing a varying degree of apnea, and this is what keeps ins. paying for it, about $380/mo. A pulmonologist was the dr who dx'd her apnea and the necessity of the monitor. I do sleep a lot better knowing it will go off if she has a seizure.
