Guest guest
Sorry to hear of Asthena and the other children. Could it be the flu bug going through your house? My oldest son got it and he was sick in bed for a week. He had the same symptoms, coughing a lot. Unfortunately, as you know, it's a waiting out game. My ped said to be really careful, because it seems to be turning to pneumonia very quickly this year. My son is never ever sick and he really got hit hard. I also have two infectious disease doctors in my family and neither one of them had the flu shot, because they say its useless this year. Gracie had her shots, but we quarantined to be safe. Best of luck to you. I will be sure to pray for your family a lot. You must be a very strong person. I worry enough with one ill child. Hopefully you will get your wish pretty soon. Your family really deserves something extra special.

Guest guest
No bloodwork follow-up yet. We are scheduled for a return visit with Dr. Whiteman for the 3rd and assume we will get some answers at that time. We also just got a phone call from Dr. Renaud (neurologist). She rearranged her schedule on the 29th to be able to see Asenath as well as Zipporrah because Asenath's headaches have been worse again. When we were up at Mayo we told Dr. Renaud's secretary that they were worse and I guess she is worried about them and what it could mean. Not sure what to expect there but I am worried it may mean a sooner MRI/MRA or trying chemo drugs. Please pray about ALL these issues as it has been quite stressful around here. My older kids seem to be having a hard time dealing with the possibility of Zipporrah also being affected and especially Luke is really having a lot of problems. He says he cries in school quite a bit and I know at home he does. It just tears me up knowing how much pain my kids are experiencing. Too much for kids to handle at times. Please pray for my kids. We also have a nasty virus in the home that has me worried. uke has had it for over a month and several others have been hit by it too. It basically is only coughing but causes you to cough and gag until you vomit and can't breathe. Last night our 9 year old, Isaac, coughed up tons of phlegm and gave us a real scare. He couldn't breathe and we were in a major hurry to treat the asthma. We plan on going to the ER this morning to get some steroids to treat him as this is the only thing that has helped Luke. I can't imagine Asenath or Zipporrah getting this bad! Darla: mommy to Asenath, Zipporrah, Luke, Leah, , Isaac, Tirzah, Kezia, & Marquis Re: Porrah's MRI & anethesia ? This sounds just like Grace with all of her procedures. She always is very sleepy, and not interested in food. It usually takes her at least 24 hours before she starts to come around. I also remember my oldest daughter after having a sedation, being very out of it all day. I don't think she was as long as Grace to come back. It was a long time ago, but I would guess it to be at least 12 hours or so before she even cared what was going on Best of luck to you. Hopefully everything turns out normal for her. Have you received any of her bloodwork back yet? Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
Guest guest
Darla, Oh my, what a plate full of stress you have. So many areas of critical concern....., regarding Luke and your other children and their concern for Porrah also having Mito. Red & Ada both found it very helpful to speak with " someone " else. I took them to a Grief Support Center. I went with Ada because of her young age,and Red attended a group with other young boys. I feel that we have a very good relationship with our children. That they feel safe with us, and that we all have a very open relationship, yet the benefit they both received from speaking with others -- was very noticeable. Most hospitals have some sort of family support center available through their hospice program. Some have specialized services and/or groups focusing on supporting all memebers of a family that has a medically fragile child. Maybe you could link up with something through the hospital in Des Moines (isn't that your closet large city?)Does Des Moines have a Children's Hospital? They seem to offer the most extensive services, including groups by age, individual sessions for sibs & parents, and sometimes week end camps. At least here, all services are free of charge, as they are supported by the hospital foundations. It is a stress on the entire family. My thoughts & prayers continue to be with all of you.
