Why are GI motility issues so big in mito?

Hi,

I'm just wondering this. My son, Asher, has big time GI motility issues - when they did his recent G-tube they had trouble getting to his stomach because his "incredibly distended colon" (the drs words) was so huge it was in the way. And, it was full of gas. Plus, he can't seem to poop well at all - every 2-3 days we have to put in some sort of suppository (babylax) to get it done. We're still waiting results on a biopsy done by Shoffner in January so no diagnosis yet. And, I'm wondering it it's also affecting his urinary tract as he seems to have no idea when he has to pee (he's 3 and very bright IMHO).

What are the Mito docs explanations for these GI motility problems?
