Guest guest
Glad to hear your visit went well with Dr. Renaud. Hopefully your tests results will help you better treat your daughter. Sorry to hear about the abnormal tests though. Yes, the son Hollister was well until 2001 I think. He had his first stroke around the time Asenath started to get bad and had his second stroke just shortly before Asenath was in the hospital for a stroke in April of 2002. He has been doing better with the stroke area but has lots of issues with viruses and other "Mito" issues that we all seem to bear with. The mom doesn't want to join any of these groups because she feels it would be too hard to hear the suffering and still be able to handle her son's problems. I think she is struggling with acceptance issues. She was a nurse for over 18 years before having to quit to take care of her son. She says she doesn't want to know too much about Mito. I guess I am the opposite because I want to know all the possibilities so I can handle what comes with knowledge to help the situation. We each need to handle these issues in our own way I guess. Darla: mommy to Asenath Re: To Janelle McGuire DarlaYes, I remember the Mom and Dad. They were fun at the conference. If I remember correctly their son had been quite typical and then in his teenage years quickly developed symptoms and became quite ill.We just returned from Mayo's for the first time We saw Dr Renaud and the peds endocrinologist Atef??? Dr Renaud was very nice and feels has an underlying syndrome along with mito. Also was concerned about heart murmur. Did EKG and Echocardiogram which were both abnormal. Also did lots of blood tests, urine tests and MRI with spectroscopy. So, we are waiting for her to compile all the results and get back to us. I'm glad we went. It was nice to have a physician who really understood mito.Hope all is going better for you. Hope all of your family escapes the flu and has a wonderful holiday. Take careJanelle
Guest guest
Darla Yes, I agree that Hollister's Mom does not want to know a whole lot about mito. I'm like you. I want to know. I too am a nurse. I still work 30 hours plus a week for Great River Home Care and Hospice. I'm off today trying to make " goodies " for our neighbors for Christmas. Take care and keep in touch.
