Older child starting enzymes

Hello all,

I've been lurking for months, reading and reading. I've finally bought some

Kirkman's Complete and some Probiotics and I'm ready to go. To recap: My son is

12. I devoted one year to our lives on the GFCF diet. Bought a breadmaker, all

the books from to Hagman, a fry-daddy and lots of Ms Robins. With high

expectations, we saw no positive changes in behavior, in fact, worsening

behaviors with corn, soy, and sugar. My son lost weight and muscle mass- not

to good for a pre-adolescent.

You can't blame me for being gun-shy with going out on my own again. My

pediatrician and neurologist thought I was nuts, a women who cannot except her

son for what he is. So, we are restriction- free with not huge behavior change.

My goals for enzyme-therapy: 1. Improvement in bowel function: chronic

constipation that even Dr. Buie could not help.

2. Less verbal stimming- drives us to distraction- fortunately he doesn't do it

in school. 3. Decrease in euphoric behavior (especially at 4AM on a Full Moon)

4. Increase in communication -his major disability- he's verbal only when he

wants something. We have no idea what he feels or thinks.

I guess the news of Dr. Buie latest research, strengthening some of Dr.

Wakefield's work was a sign for me to proceed. I'm not waiting for their

clinical trial, though- here we go.... stay tuned....

PS. My son has been taking Naltrexone for four years now, if we decrease the

peptides going to the brain, should we decrease the drug that's blocking the

opiod receptors? Can anyone answer that question? My neurologist doesn't

believe in the gut connection, he prescribed the naltrexone. He won't be

impressed with the enzyme therapy....
