Guest guest
OK I confess!!!!!! I've had Starbucks a couple of times. I can't help it. LOL I got addicted to the lattes & cappers when I worked in a restaurant. It was out of economic necessity. If you got a drink in a bottle it counted as part of your daily meal allowance but all the coffee & fountain pop was free. grannylunatic@... __________________________________________________

Guest guest
, & others, I don't have a problem with somebody buying a latte now & then, or having a cell phone, etc. But when you are spending $4 a day for coffee . . . . . in a year you could have bought a used car! And I know that many people can't afford a regular phone, or have to pay a deposit, so they use a cell phone & buy minutes. But my son is one of those who thinks he has to upgrade every time something new comes out. Now he has a phone with video; he doesn't need that. What really amazed me was the number of people lined up in Walmart at midnight the night before some new game was coming out, before Christmas! And these people aren't rich. I just see all these kids growing up feeling entitled to every new thing to come down the pike. My grandkids think I was deprived because we didn't have video games & dvd's when I was a kid. Oh, don't let me get started. Mmmmmphhh! Someone's got their hand over my mouth! And we had to hike 40 miles in snow over our heads to get to school! Mmmmphhh! Guest guest
Rose I think to pay that for coffee every day is insane. I treat myself to a mocha every 3 weeks on my treatment day. They've got a little stand with coffee & food next to the waiting room for my Cytoxan treatment. Good thing the blood test isn't supposed to be fasting because I have to have a muffin too. I'm about the cheapest person around. LOL Yea, I'm the nitwit in the gutter picking up a penny & almost getting hit by a car. I agree about people thinking you have to have the newest, biggest, fastest whatever they're selling you. There's too much crap going in the landfills & we'll all end up living in houses on top of garbage dumps & what will that do to our health? I still have VHS (used) a borrowed tv & a third hand computer but I still manage to waste money so I guess I have more lessons to learn. The same thing with the latest fashions. Why should we wear what some designer has decided is " IN " when the models look like starving 10 year old boys? Show me something a REAL woman can wear. I just love the Dove " campaign for real beauty " ads but you ain't getting me up there in my drawers! LOL grannylunatic@... __________________________________________________

Guest guest
rose, I have to agree. Is it something you can't live without or is it just something you want? There is a difference. Just because it is out there doesn't mean you have to have it. I am not much of a materialistic person. My husband and I live within our means and always have. The only thing we have on a credit card right now is the computer and we are paying $100.00 a month until it is gone. If we couldn't have payed that we wouldn't have done it. It gets me is that the young adults have to have new everything right now and that includes my children. I am lucky that my children and their wives make good money, but just because all of your friends have something doesn't mean you have to have it too. Big TV's, fancy cars, remodeled kitchens. Neither son would think of renting an apartment; they both bought houses prior to getting married. Jeff and got married two years ago and and Angie are marrying this August and just bought their house. What ever happened to hand me down furniture, your mother-in-laws old dishes, etc. They feel they are entitled to the best and they don't want to wait. Don't get me wrong, they are wonderful, giving, Christian couples but I feel this generation has never had to do without so why start now. Maybe when they get older they will understand why I always tell them to put away a little for a rainy day. Well, I am done with that. I guess I have some kind of bug and I am going back to sleep. Everyone take care. Terri
