son is on MCT Oil he gets 17 grams with every meal. It is more readily absorbed in the gut because it has less chains in it than traditional fats (long chain fatty acids)

We use MCT oil it is made by Mead and you need a script for it - at least in NJ you do. If your child is tube feed it can be a part of the tube feeding and is then covered by insurance. Before the tube ours wasn't covered.

We have gotten it from CVS in the past, however, it was a special order. One Quart Bottle runs between $75-90 dollars.

It mixes nicely into mayonaise, apple sauce etc.

Hope this helps.

Our daughter was on MCT oil and did not tolerate it. I have about 4 1-quart glass containers left if you need it or any one else needs it. I also have RCF formula if anyone could use it.

Please e-mail me if you are interested.

I'm not sure what MCT oil does for vitamins, but gets her Co Q-10 in

MCT oil. She gets 60mg in 5ml of oil twice a day. We had tried the Co Q-10

in regular corn oil but she didn't digest it. gets her meds via

G-tube so she hasn't complained about the taste. I'm not sure if taste is

an issue for your child, but the pharmacist said that kids often refuse to

take the MCT oil. The carnitine is separate, and for now gets the

rest of her vitamins in her TPN. Hope this helps!
