Hi :

We will have incidence rates for asthma among farmworkers based on a

cross-sectional study of 965 FWs conducted in California in 1999. We should

have the results later this fall. You can call for more details.

Subject: [ ] Asthma in Farmworkers

Hi.

I'm a student in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Yale. I've

enjoyed reading the discussions presented in this group and it seems like a

great way to tap into the great wealth of information that is dispersed " out

there " .

I'm looking for information on asthma prevalence in the farmworker

population and how effectively it is being managed. I've done a preliminary

lit search and come up pretty dry. It seems that asthma is largely

considered an urban problem. Given farmworkers' chronic exposure to

chemicals and dust and substandard housing conditions, I would think that it

would be a common problem in this population. Are there any studies out

there that anyone can refer me to? Does anyone have experience in this

area?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Leopold, MSPH
