Guest guest
Actually it was Tirzah (who has the spots) who had the low platelets when she was 11 months old. This does worry me to think this could be another issue with her. I agree it has to be related to the pertussis as she and several of the kids are still having bad coughing spurts. I just was confused why NOW she is having the spots when she didn't at the height of her infection. If her counts are down, that might explain it... Darla Re: Pressure bruise look- question Darla, It sounds like pettechia (sp) to me too. had a platelet issue when she was 10wks. Her first sign was small little bruises (blotches) on her face. Platelets can drop with a viral infection. Aseneth has had blood issues hasn't she? I would call the doc and have them do a count on her. Guest guest
Darla, I know that bacterial and viral infections really affect 's bone marrow production. I would have her counts checked. has only had to have a platelet transfusion one time in her life. No one can explain why...what can they explain? She was ten weeks old and was very anemic at the time. Her platelts used to be about 170,000 for two yrs. after the platelet transfusion. After we had her spleen removed they are now about 600,000.But when she had her fifths disease viral infection in the winter, her platelts dropped again. They did go back up quickly and required no transfusion. I think I would ask the doc to do a count and see. Maybe they can order a nurse to come to the house to draw the blood so you won't have to take her in. This is what we do for . I hope it works out! Let me know if I can help, Dawn
