Greetings all,

Very interesting the comments about long eyelashes being associated with

mito. The comments by several other parents that the eyelashes of their

mito child is the first thing that others often notice or mention is very

true of . On several occasions, complete strangers have made specific

comment about this issue to me when I am with in public.

Did the doctor who made the comment about eyelashes, have any reasons as to

why this might be so?

This subject caught my attention, as people are always saying how long and beautiful Chelsea's eyelashes are (and how jealous they are!). Most of the drs Chelsea has seen have also commented on her mildly dysmorphic features. In report from the neuro she saw once at U of M, he says "She had dysmorphic facial features including synophrys, epicanthal folds, a broad nasal bridge and wide spaced eyes." This exam was done when she was 3yrs and her features have become more prominent in the past few years, she will be 7 soon. Other drs have said something about the shape of her eyebrows. She is still the cutest thing ever, though! Here is a current pic. BTW, what does synophrys mean? I could not find that in my medical dictionary.

What a sweetie. Chelsea reminds me a great deal of Audrey. It is so nice to put a face to a name. Audrey also has long eyelashes as does her older brother, Alec.

Kathy, I have also thought that Audrey and Chelsea have a lot of similar features. Audrey sure is a cutie, and also has that "oh so tired" look Chelsea often gets. Chelsea is also very prone to lethargy.

, I have often pondered about a connection between my grandmother's MG and mito, especially since my mother has been dx'd with fibromyalgia "for lack of a better dx". None of CHelsea's drs have gotten too excited about it and have only said there is a remote possibility there is a connection. I have posed this ? to the group before and many adults responded saying the were misdx'd with MG or fibro, even a few children as well. So there is a distinct possibility, the drs just may not know themselves or there isn't enough research. Another thing to consider with my grandmother though, is she developed cancer in her 40's, which she never treated and was dx'd with MG in her early 60's, so there is a distinct possibility that the cancer spread to her thalamus and caused the MG. Her medical records may have the answer and I did ask my mom about them, but she said my uncle was in charge of that and they have become estranged since the death of my grandparents. It has been about 14 years.
