wheelchairs vs. mobility scooters

Does anyone have any advice about using mobility scooters instead of

wheelchairs for long distance walking? Collin can walk fine but can

not walk long without muscle cramps and fatigue, in addition it uses

too much energy putting him into a downward spiral. We are in the

process of getting a mobility scooter for him but would like any
