Sorry but, this is not a virus. It is a hoax being sent around. The file

it mentions is a normal Windows file.

You can find details on the hoax at www.snopes.com. Whenever you get an

e-mail that seems a little " off " you can check it there.

Here's the direct link for the info on this hoax:

http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/jdbgmgr.htm

please don't feel badly about accidentally passing this on to the list.

I just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Virus

Hello

I am so sorry about this but I was sent this virus unknowingly from a

friend of mine and so in turn as it attacks the address book of my email

friends it has probably entered your computer. Please follow the

details as listed below:

Sorry about this, but it must be done i suppose.

A friend of a friend's address book got infected or whatever by this

virus, so apparently mine has been, and so yours might be too, coz

you're in

my address book. read the instructions and get rid of it! The virus

called

jdbgmgr.exe is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus systems. The

virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent

automatically by messenger and by the Address Book, whether or not you

sent

emails to your contacts. It is quite easy to check for the virus and get

rid

of it in a couple of minutes. 1. Go to Start, Find or Search option. 2.

In

the files/folders option, write the name jdbgmgr.exe 3. Be sure to

search

your C drive and any other drives you may have. 4.Click " find now " 5.

The

virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe - DO NOT OPEN IT.

6.

Go to edit, choose " select all " to highlight the file without opening

it. 7.

Now go to file and select " delete " . It will then go to the Recycle Bin.

8.

Go to the Recycle Bin and delete it there as well. IF YOU FIND THIS

VIRUS

YOU MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK SO THAT THEY IN

TURN

MAY ERADICATE IT FROM THEIR OWN ADDRESS BOOKS. APOLOGIES AS I'M SURE

EVERYONE IN MY ADDRESS BOOK WILL HAVE IT. To do this open anew email

message.. CLick the photo of the address book next to " To " Click every

name

and add it to BCC Copy this message...enter subject...paste to

email...send,

or, this is quicker as long as your server doesnt place a limit on the

number of addresses you may use at once. Go to Address Book, select

" ALL "

(Ctrl A), go to " send mail " which is in tools or action.

Good luck with it all and sorry again!

On many computers this is an adjunct to parts of Windows; in any

event, it should make little difference whether one removes it or not.

(I do not show it, but do check often, beyond what my anti-virus prote

ction tells me, and it is not there--thank you for the warning!

IT'S A HOAX!!! I hope none of you have deleted it! My brother is a

computer geek (so I like to call him) he said that if you delete it

it messes up the Java plug in on your computer and those websites

that use java will not work on your computer anymore. You'll have to

reboot java or retrieve it from your recycle bin as long as you

didn't delete it out of your recycle bin! That's why you have

the " virus " because java is on your computer!

Yes, on the Snopes site it said it didn't matter if you removed it (the

file mentioned in the hoax) unless you were *programming,* not just

running, Java.

This is a HOAX! You don't have a virus -- that teddy bear belongs there! The jdbgmgr.exe file is a part of Windows, and should not be removed! If you have already removed it, don't panic. You haven't hurt done any serious damage!

I meant to say "you haven't hurt anything!" or "you haven't done any serious damage!". Instead, I combined the two! Guess I was trying to type and think at the same time -- I should know by now that doesn't work!!
