Guest guest
On top of everything else going wrong with right now,(staph infection, mediport may need pulled etc) they think that she may have gotten fifths disease. My son had this when he was little, and it was no big deal for him. We saw her doc today and her counts have dropped. Hemoglobin has dropped four points and 6 days, and her platlets have dropped from 535,000 last week to 135,000 today. They sent us home and said don't worry. It is viral and there is nothing to do but wait. I am very concerned. I have read in every article on the internet, that anyone who is immunocompromised and has any chronic anemia should be very aggressive. How can the doc say not to worry. My little one is also mildly neutropenic and I am immunocompromised (low IGG levels- subcalsses 1 &2 ). Anyone deal with this with mito? With other bone marrow issues? Should I push or just sit and wait. Unfortunately I cannot put my hand on her head and tell if her counts have dropped further...it something i just won't know until its too late. Very aggrevating. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Dawn
Guest guest
I'd call the hematologist who I think has been a good support to you - right? if she is sick she needs all the energy she can get. I can only say that our doctors feel very strongly that Sam and Zach's hgb must be maintained above 9 at all times, especially when they are ill. I don't know how low hers is but if it is between 9 and 10 it certainly bares a close watch. The plts are fine as you know but if they're dropping that rapidly I would at least request frequent lab draws. I assume you draw from her port so it should be easy enough to get the labs done.
