We are home from Zipporrah's MRI/MRA finally. We went up yesterday figuring to come home following the procedure but ended up needing to stay overnight for observation. We used an IV anesthesia with a preparatory dose of Versaid and the techs said all went fine with the scans. However, following it she was very slow to wake and had a lot of difficulty nursing. She hadn't nursed from 8:30 AM until after 5 PM that evening (Her scans were at 1:30-3:00 PM). She seemed famished and so I tried to nurse her. She just kept gulping tons of air very loudly, gagging, and was swallowing over and over again after only 2 sucks and could hardly catch her breath. This kept happening all evening. We tried for several hours to get her to nurse (her IV fell out during the procedure I learned so she was without any nourishment) and finally got one half decent meal in her at bedtime. She was very floppy all evening and I had to support her head totally or it would flop. Still this morning, even after being released, she has thrown up 5 times and not able to hold much down. I am wondering if others have had this experience and if so how long before it got better She had problems before the scans with gagging, air swallowing, and reflux, but now it has multiplied in intensity and is worrying me. Somehow I have to get to the Feb. 2nd GI visit to get testing done on her. Noone seems to be in a hurry at all except for me. Darla: mommy to Aseanth and Zipporrah and the gang Get more from the Web.
