Guest guest
I do not know for sure, but Grace always seems to be sick when we are busy. Before I quit working to stay home with her, she always had a cold or something. Now with a more relaxed environment she rarely gets ill. I've always took it as a stress thing. Guest guest
Stacey, I have noticed in that if we travel in the car or go out in public too much she gets sick. Part is the immunity factor and part is pure exhaustion. Over-stimulation with her causes her to get cranky, exhausted and sometimes a low grade temp. With rest and a day or two to chill, she usually gets better. Dawn
Guest guest
Thanks. It's so hard putting all the pieces together and deciding whether to visit family or not, knowing that he'll probably get sick if we do but we don't have any family living near us. We normally don't even take him out to the grocery store but that's more to avoid germs. Is it known/surmised/wondered about that fatigue causes fevers with mito? I've been wondering about this because fevers have been an issue with Sheldon. Stacey, I have noticed in that if we travel in the car or go out in public too much she gets sick. Guest guest
Ditto.....this happens with as well. Even a very short 10 min car ride is to much sometimes. Her body temp fluctuates terribly after taking her out even for the shortest time and she wont even go to walmart or the grocery any more because it has just become to much. She used to love to go visit the toy isle in walmart with her powerchair or go out to eat but she cries when we mention it now. is 13....14 may 3. You are not alone. Guest guest
Stacie Colby, always gets sick when we travel. He usually vomits or gets into trouble respiratory wise. We've visited out of state ER's. I takes him about a week to get back to himself once we get home. He get's very fatigued, and cries over nothing and everything. Have any of you noticed that travel can cause mito kids to get sick? It always seems like Sheldon gets sick after we travel and I'm wondering if he's not actually sick with an illness but maybe it's just the mito causing symptoms because he's so tired. Two days after we made a 2 1/2 hour day trip to see my parents last week Sheldon was sick with a 104.5 temp and diarrhea and then a cough. Can fatigue cause a fever with these kids? Sheldon so often has a temp around 100.3 but I think his 'normal' temp is much lower than that. Is the travel itself more than his body can handle? Dr. has said that any stress on their bodies is tough on them. We've been so careful with him since he was in the hospital, keeping him home and away from germs and it always seems like once we relax the restrictions he gets sick again and doesn't do well for his teachers.
