Guest guest
Usually the mito doctor will give you a diet, specifically for your child. Many children with mito are on low fat, some are on a Ketogenic diet, while others (like my daughter) are on a high fat diet. It really all depends on there metabolic breakdown and how well they do. I would call your doctor, and then consult a dietitian who works closely with your doctor.
Guest guest
Sheldon's PDH deficiency diagnosis is still new. I'm trying to figure out what to feed him. He has many autistic characteristics. Does the GF/CF diet tend to go with mito disorders? And what about high fat/low carb? He doesn't gain weight easily and it's hard to get fluids and calories into him, he likes sweet drinks like juice but not milk, he usually drinks chocolate soy milk. I'm tempted to try a GF/CF diet but don't know if it's indicated with mito. Does anyone else know? Thanks.
