I went off the Lyrica I was taking for neuropathy, because Baughman & my neuro both thought part of my memory/mental stuff could be med-related. My neuro thought the Lyrica was the likeliest, so I tapered off it. Starting about 4 days after the last dose, last Saturday, I started feeling more tired than usual. On Sunday I slept all day, missed church, didn't eat, go to the bathroom, my daughter couldn't get me to wake up. I vaguely remember talking to her, so I wasn't unconscious, I just didn't want to wake up. Since then I've been totally exhausted, get lightheaded if I'm not lying flat. If I sit up for more than a few minutes, I also get a pounding headache. I'm hot & cold, but no fever. My blood pressure is okay. I don't have any nausea, cold symptoms, etc. I'm eating fine. To use the computer, I'm in a camp recliner with my head almost flat & my feet up in the sky.

Rose--this is not good. I'd call the neuro or Baughmann and tell them what is happening. You may have come down off the Lyrica too fast.

Also, since you're tapering both your MTX and Neurontin-- your poor brain doesn't know what to do.

The other thing to do is to call the pharmacist-- they would be able to help even more.

The Neurontin never game me brain fade, but I did have muscle weakness in my legs and arms. So I've had to learn to live with dosing it up or down at 100 mg a time, until I stabilize at that new level, then adjust again.

Rose I sent you a page on Lyrica

http://www.lyrica.com

Trouble concentrating is just one of the side effects--I didn't go into the whole site, but it looks like a good one.

Were you supposed to stop the Neurontin and start the Lyrica, or titrate down on the Neurontin as you went up on the Lyrica? I have a feeling that you've got a medication reaction--it does say to watch taking it with other meds that make you sleepy. IE. pain meds.

Also, to change to many at one time is not good-- because you can't tell what's doing what.

I hope I made sense,

Love ya,

Tracie, I've been off Neurontin for a year, since I wrecked my car. The only med changes recently have been tapering the Lyrica & stopping the MTX. I was on 15mg of MTX weekly; are you supposed to taper off it? I just stopped it.

I'm feeling a little better, not as lightheaded & no headache. But I slept all day again. I took Sam to school this morning because I needed the car for something, came home & went back to sleep for awhile. When I woke up, I couldn't remember what it was I needed to do, so I went back to sleep until time to go pick Sam up. Then went back to sleep until my daughter Ginny came to take me out to eat. Ginny has decided to return to San . She's the one who drove up here last summer totally out of it on prescription drugs. She wants to go back to her girls, which is great. I worry about her not having a good support system there, but she says she is ready. She's been supporting herself here, with her own apartment, for several months. She's planning to work until 3/23, then pack & leave. She's only had a couple of pancreatitis attacks since she's been here; maybe getting all the drugs out of her system were what she needed. The doctors there just kept ordering more & more meds. She's got to get a better doctor.

That's interesting about Gerson. I looked up "Death Be Not Proud" and it was published in 1949. I read it in the 60's.

Take care of yourself; that'll be neat if you & Matt can visit.

Rose, if I remember correctly they had us start with 5 mg, and go up each week to 15mg. It would be easier to titrate off-- but I don't believe it's necessary.

I know that when I had to stop taking it for a few weeks due to illness, by the 2nd week-- my body inflammation went thru the roof.

Reading the Lyrica stuff-- I suspect that the MD was right--that was probably the source of your brain fog. Also, if you take it with any other CNS depressant drug --even your pain meds--then you'd feel the effects of it even more intensely.
