Guest guest
Hi All My sarc so far has been restricted to neurological areas but over the past couple of days I have been getting sharp almost 'electrical' stabs of pain in my left calf. I did have a lumbar puncture a couple of months ago which they did hit a nerve which sent a similar electric pain down my left leg (it hurt hell of a lot) but it recovered. Its just starting to worry me the pain is there and gone agin very quickly, is it something I should see my doctor about or just hope it will go away ? Thanks for any advise I receive. Guest guest
Hi: This isn't directly related and please don't take this as preaching, but in the worst case event he has to get the pouch removed it's not the end of the world. I've had an illeostomy for 10 years last June. (I also have PSC). Also, I'm a pouch Candidate and when I had my total collectomy They left part of my rectum intact in case I ever wanted the pouch. (Note that at the time I figured I'd wait the 6 months healing period then get one). I've never felt the urge to get it done. The complications folks (sometimes) have outweighed the cosmetic impact of the ostomy. In response to the person that's had one for 3 months, it's still changing shape, etc. during that period so that's far worse than it gets. In all honesty I think shaving is more of a pain in my butt than the care of the Ostomy. Note that although I've been a slug lately due to a cracked rib. After getting the Ostomy I bicycled through the Rockies 4 times (one trip was 700 miles) with the ostomy with no issues. I'm an avid weight lifter and have squatted up to maybe 490lbs with the pouch and other than my clothing choices it never encumbers anything. (I prefer to wear loose baqgies). Other than maybe 3 or 4 times having irritation I have never had any complications and have had a total of 2 leaks in 10 years (not bad either). I'm not modest and will talk about it to anyone who asks, but nobody knows who I don't tell, there isn't anything noticable about it outside. If I was a male model posing in G strings all the time (I'm not it would bother me. It doesn't. Maybe I've just had too many cameras up bodily orfices to care but it really doesn't bother me. My only concern early on was intimacy with my girlfriend. She didn't mind and those since then haven't either. Maybe someday I'll become a 'male' model and use the wildcard for a J-Pouch I've had open, but I've had no need to for now. The freedom from urgency offered by the pouch has been a godsend. Before it I planned my day around bathrooms. I still go frequently but never 'have' to go. Anyway, I'll stop preaching, I hope it ends up being something temporary and resolves on it's own. I just wanted to say if you lose the pouch it's not the end of the world, just the beginning of a new one. > > >Do you all have experience with this kind of pain?
