Guest guest
le- I don't have any answers but, just wanted to say I sometimes feel the same way about and Lindsey. They sometimes just start screaming and saying "owie." They rub their eyes and their head. So, I have often times wondered if they suffer from migranes too. I would also love to hear if someone has any ideas on how to figure it out. We are meeting with our neuro tomorrow so I will be sure to ask him. It's awesome Lea has been seizure free for two weeks!! That's great news as I know she was really struggling there for a while. Did you change her seizure meds or have you done anything differently that you think has contributed to the stop in seizure activity? I hope this streak continues for a long time! Take care Kim - Mom to and Lindsey (2) Partial Complex I how do i know if my baby has a headache? Lea has been extra fussy at night lately. this is so out of the ordinary for her- she has always been a good night sleeper, except for a few exceptions. The last week or so she has been really struggling to sleep. Sometimes she wakes up crying after only minutes of sleep. And once she wakes up she is fussy- acting like she doesn't really know what she wants. She will nurse for what seems like forever- and when I think she's fallen asleep I find out that I am wrong. Only instead of gurgling happily like she normally does- she does more "yelling" (in the way an infant does). Once she finally does fall asleep, we actually need to tip toe around because she seems much more wakeful- little sounds will wake her and make her upset. She also is restless as she sleeps, constantly moving or wimpering- or rubbing her eyes and ears. She was diagnosed as having an ear infection this past Monday, so it is quite possible that's what is going on. I'm leaning towards wondering if she has a headache though because it seems like NOTHING helps to take the pain away. And the strangest thing is that during the day- she acts 100% fine. She is even making great gains in her development lately and has been seizure free for almost 2weeks!Could she be suffering from migraines? Is there any way to know for sure? Thanks,le and Lea, 10.5mos, complex 1Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.

Guest guest
This is a hard thing to diagnose with little kids. we know Asenath had migraines when she was very young because we now look back at old photos where she holds the back of her head as she does now with her migraines. But back then we didn't know it was happening. I can let you know what she was/is like though when she became a little older and see if that helps you. Night time was/is the worst. (I will try to speak present tense but relate it to the past as well.) During the day if the migraine isn't horribly painful Asenath goes about playing and keeping busy only to rub her head occasionally letting us know she has one. But at night she whines and moans and is very restless. She wakes frequently calling for me and after holding my hand or being held she drifts back to sleep only to wake again shortly. She will hold her head, roll around, whimper, and just want mommy mostly. If it gets bad enough she will cry, "Owie, my head is owie." Children behave differently with headaches and different children can tolerate different levels of pain. Our doctors tell us Asenath probably has a very high pain tolerance toward migraines because she had lived with them almost non-stop for the first couple of years of her life. Now they seem to be more sporadic (at least we assume so) and only get real bad when she has a stroke. We also know that Asenath's headaches became MUCH better when we began giving her Carnitor and Polycitra (Polycitra is for Metabolic acidosis) and so if you think they may be having migraines, see if the doctors might run some simple blood tests to see if they may be having some of these issues. Metabolic dysfunction can really mess up your body and cause issues that lead to migraines. I really hate to hear of the pain your kids (le and Kim) are having potentially. I hope the ear infection is the main culprit for your child, le. Let me know if I can help more. Darla: mommy to Asenath how do i know if my baby has a headache? Guest guest
le I don't have an answer for you but Wyatt's sleep pattern is almost identical. We finally were able to get an appointment for his 24hr eeg and sleep study. We go in on December 30th and get out December 31st. Nice New Years Eve : (! If I find out anything I will let you know. Our kids seem very similiar. Guest guest
le, Will started having his headaches/migraines at about 10 months old. We would notice he was really light and sound sensitive during the day, and extremely fussy. He would hide out in his room, which we keep very dark, and wouldn't want to do much of anything. At night he would be so tired, but could not get settled to sleep and if he did finally fall asleep he whimpered all night waking frequently. We tried everything OTC we could think of, and finally found that Ibuprofen taken with caffeine helped him. I know for some caffeine can make it worse, but it works for him. He is now taking Periactin which helps a lot, he does still get headaches, but not the daily migraines. We have a lot of people question us about how can you tell he has migraines, but once they see him they finally understand. Hope that helps some,
