Guest guest
I agree, Chelsea is the cutest thing ever. Something that I notice on Chelsea that is in common with my daughter and grand-daughter are the eyes. One being slightly larger than the other. Anyone else notice this? . Re: eyelashes This subject caught my attention, as people are always saying how long and beautiful Chelsea's eyelashes are (and how jealous they are!). Most of the drs Chelsea has seen have also commented on her mildly dysmorphic features. In report from the neuro she saw once at U of M, he says "She had dysmorphic facial features including synophrys, epicanthal folds, a broad nasal bridge and wide spaced eyes." This exam was done when she was 3yrs and her features have become more prominent in the past few years, she will be 7 soon. Other drs have said something about the shape of her eyebrows. She is still the cutest thing ever, though! Here is a current pic. BTW, what does synophrys mean? I could not find that in my medical dictionary. e, Chelsea's mom(nonspecific mito) Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. Guest guest
I think I sent send without anything. Anyways I just wanted to add that that is the first thing anybody says about Wyatt when they meet him- " how did you get so luck to have such long eyelashes, especially as a boy. " I find it interesting that other mito kids have long lashes. Guest guest
's are the same.Long, thick and beautiful.Always the first thing people notice. But I had never heard anyone say that the long lashes could be connected to mito.Something new to learn every day. ,Mom to Re: Mito inherited from father? Guest guest
Calley also has long gorgeous eyelashes, as does my 11 year old Dylan, very interesting that my 15 year old ny does not. Calley has a ton of medical issues ( all related to mito), Dylan had horrible, horrible reflux as a baby and OT issues that have resolved themselves. has an LD, but compensates well. The boys are extremely healthy but I sometimes wonder if their issues are somehow connected to Calley's. I also sometimes wonder if I myself have soft signs...... Thanks for listening to me ponder! Best Wishes, Colleen - Mom to Calley 6 (Mito - Complex IV, gtube, trach - decannulated 4/17/00) Dylan 11 &
Guest guest
and , Thanks for the compliments on Chelsea! And she is just as sweet as she is cute! Chelsea does have ptosis (droopy eyelids), and her left eye is always open more than the right. Which is odd, because her left limbs are tighter and have lost use (which she is slowly gaining back) because her seizures originate from the right posterior region of her brain. Her ptosis gets worse with fatigue and/or seizure activity. FYI, my maternal grandmother was dx'd with Myathenis Gravis and ptosis was one of her most noticable sx's (she died from cancer). e, Chelsea's mom(nonspecific mito)
Guest guest
Hmmm, e, my grandmother also had myathenis gravis. Is there a connection between that and families with Mito? I don't know alot about it? jayvelde@... wrote: and , Thanks for the compliments on Chelsea! And she is just as sweet as she is cute! Guest guest
Asenath has droopy eye lids too. Her left eye doesn't open as far as her right one. I am not sure if it is from Mito or from strokes. It has gotten worse since last fall but I think most people still don't notice it like our family does. She's still a cutey to me!
