Are you seeing a feeding therapist? I wonder if someone who has

experience with feeding a baby with cleft lip and palate could help you. They

are unable to suck and accomodations have to be made for feeding them.

Maybe some of the methods used for feeding these babies could help you. I

don't know--just an idea.

Darla,

If it is a breathing issue you could try nursing her

"backwards"--instead of snuggling her on your lap you could have her

feet facing to your right when she is nursing on your right side. My

two youngest nursed much better this way when they were tiny and had

colds or congestion

Lots of Mito adults have shortness of breath issues ... as well as

apnea

related problems.
