This was about 3 years before we got the okay to do waterbirths in the hospital. We had a student midwife who was 7 mos. pregnant and she loved it. It was about 5' across. I put it in my living room & we had a waterbirth party. Some of the labor & delivery nurses came. We had a baby doll with a rope tied around its belly for a cord. We practiced birthing in every position imaginable, cord around the baby's neck, etc. just to be sure that we could do this safely. I don't remember what the Softubs sold for then, but it was only $55 to rent it, they brought it out & set it up, then came back & drained it, etc. It was very comfortable, had 4 jets I think. Just a big round tub, but very nice. We had a couple of women rent them or something similar for their hospital births. When they went into labor, they called the dealer, who brought the tub to the hospital, set it up & filled it. The husband had to drain it & take it back. But it was very simple to set up; once drained it was very lightweight. I have no idea what they cost now, but I've known a couple of people who bought used ones for a good price.
