Mine did too, as did her brother who also had mito. It for us was a combination of "tracheal malacia" and the mito muscle weakness/fatigue. TM is a softening of the cartilege rings around the trachea, or rather a failure of those to mature and harden from infancy as they should. They do outgrow it eventually. For her brother the "cure" was a trach, which would have been removed after he outgrew it if he lived (he was killed not related to mito) . For Ash we didn't want the trach so we sat up long nights, kept her on asthma-type meds (albuterol) to maintain open airway, lots of B and C vits to keep her from getting colds which made it worse. She did ourgrow it by maybe age 7 but it was a bumpy ride. I hope your 4 year old only has something simple like this.
