Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I'm so sorry you are having trouble with Cigna. We started the process at about the same time as you all and it went smoothly, so I'm wondering if would have any ideas of why it is different. Supposedly, was able to get Cigna to give us 'coverage as if Shoffner was an in-network provider (I don't know how she did this!).We had had numerous lab work done and that was sent to Cigna as well as the neurology and gastroenterology visit summaries. I know how much the fighting wears you out, especially when you're trying to take care of a sick child and you're scared and worried all the time. When you do get to Atlanta, and I believe you will, I hope you have an easy time - it was for us. It was SO different than our other hospital experiences - Shoffner is obviously brilliant and also kind and the nurses and staff are knowledgeable and kind as well. We stayed at the Mc House and, if you can get in (sometimes it's really busy), it was a comforting place to stay - everyone was so nice and helpful. Shoffner couldn't give us any answers until the biopsy results come in - he's testing for mito, fatty acid oxidation disorders, and the various and assorted congenital myopathies (i.e. central core, nemaline, etc.). And we have to wait 3 months. I'm also prepared for them to not find anything specific - I know that's happened to people as well.
