Guest guest
Madonna, While I cannot remember their titles, there have been several posts from parents regarding early puberty in their babies or toddlers. My son Max has/had early puberty, but not until he was 10. I know it has something to do with testosterone turning into estrogen and you have to stop that process because it is the estrogen that makes the puberty advance. Dr. H. is using Armidex to stop this process, but I don't know if she uses it in kids so young. I think it was Salem who posted a good explanation. I should really know it, too, but sometimes my brain just gets in oveload and I can't remember. Maybe if you do a search of the earlier emails, like within the past three months, you will find the discussions that went on. , mom of Janelle, was also posting about this and had some explanations, too. Guest guest
Madonna, Have you asked your doctor why he is concerned about early puberty. It could be that he knows that it is a possibility with RSS kids are maybe he has seen something in a physical exam of that he is keeping an eye on. I was also wondering what test he is doing 1 or 2 times a year to check him for early puberty? Is it a blood test or xray or something else? Guest guest
THe doctor uses blood tests to check him for early puberty. I know that he knows it is something to watch for with the RSS kids, but I believe that shows minor signs of this. He has very faint and small pubic hair, I think that may be his concern. Guest guest
Madonna, I just had one more question, what blood test is he doing to check for puberty? I know that there is a stimulation test but I can't imagine he is doing that...at least not twice a year. I was told that the first stages of puberty are a thinning out of the skin around the testicles and possible pubic hair. I thought Jon was starting to get pubic hair at 7 but Dr. H told me that peach fuzz is not pubic hair. Pubic hair is course hair not the fine hair. I also know that Jon's bone age started advancing. I guess I was just wondering if your doctor is seeing these things in or if he is just doing a blood test when there might be precursor signs to look for. I would hate for him to have blood draws that often if there were other ways to monitor it. I could be totally wrong but I think you should ask the doctor what he sees, what he is testing for and what information he is getting from these tests. Hope I'm not being too intrusive... Guest guest
Hi Madonna, My 3.5yrs old daughter also has signs of puberty. She had body order and that made Dr.H to run a bunch of tests and that showed she has Insuline Resistance and also her bone age started to advance. She doesn't have any body order now may be because its winter and she doesn't sweat much . She is on metmorphin for IR so we are hoping that will control her bone age advancement if not Dr. H is going to put her on a different medicine to suppress the bone age advancing. Guest guest
I have a friend who was at the endocrinologist with her 4 year old and was told that with children with special needs (she has twin to twin syndrome)puberty can start very early and that to not be surprised if she started having her period around 5 or 6. I have no advice for you but just wanted you to know of the situation. If you would like to talk to her I can send you her e-mail. Guest guest
I saw a television program which was tracing back early puberty for girls and boys to better nutrition and to growth hormones which are in the chickens. Don't know if going organic or vegatarian after its already started will turn back the clock.
