Guest guest
hi Madonna, I haven't heard of this one before. I have heard of bone lengthening, but never stopping bone growth. Could you explain how it's done? Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 13 months, 11# 4oz, 24.75 " , GT)
Guest guest
Well, what they do is they, right before the child hits puberty, they gon in and put a metal plate in at the knee, this stops the long leg from growing. this allows the other leg to catch up in length. we are not that close yet so I don't have too much detailed information. Sorry
Guest guest
Madonna, Are you familiar with , mom of Dennis? Dennis had limb- lengthening surgery about a year ago. He has had a really tough time with it, though. You may want to contact her if you want more info. It might help you make your decision as to whether or not to go through witht the surgery. Email me privately and I will give you her email address. Jodi magicrss@ hotmail.com
Guest guest
Miranda's orthopedist mentioned these choices we are probably going to face when she gets older. Apparently the procedure where they stop one leg from growing is extremely routine. They actually just remove the " growth plate " of the long leg (its a piece of cartilage at the end of each bone). He said it is very simple and they do it frequently. The leg lengthening procedure is much more complex and they usually reserve this for the most severe asymmetry (I think he said if the final difference in leg length will be greater than 6cm). In this procedure they essentially sever the lower leg bones on the short leg and install a metal " distraction frame " . Something called an Ilizarov frame. The gap between the bones is increase 1 millimeter a day and the bone actually grows into this gap. It can take as much as a year from the surgery until the leg is back up to full strength. As with all surgeries there is the possibility of complications arising. Elaine (Miranda 12.5 mo., 16lb 140oz., 73cm) > Madonna, > > Are you familiar with , mom of Dennis? Guest guest
Selsun Blue is good for tinea versicolor, a fungal infection of the skin that shows up as white patches, mostly on the face, neck & shoulders. Tanning makes it more obvious. I used to have this & ridded myself of it with the Selsun Blue. Maybe there is some relationship. Maybe not . . . . . Guest guest
Quick question: Does anyone have phantom itching - but no sores? It is especially bad in the summer, but sometimes I itch with no cause at all. Guest guest
,I really need the prayers more now than ever. Without going into details my home life isn't that great right now. My husband, all of a sudden, has been awful. I know it must be difficult to live with someone who is sick all the time, but it is such an about face. I was singing his praises (and about our marriage) a couple of weeks ago and all of a sudden he is not even speaking to me. He works out every day after work and doesn't get home until 6:30 or so. He just doesn't want to be at home. He golfs every Saturday (all day) so the only time I really see him is on Sunday. I just don't understand what is going on. Maybe it is just too much for him. If it is, I wish he would just say so...I don't need the additional stress. I woke up with facial pain and drooping today and I know it is in part caused by the stress that I am feeling from being ignored all week.Wow, I didn't mean to say that much, but I know a lot of people on the site go through marital problems. I just thought our faith in God had brought us closer and I realize that he may not believe it like I do. Sorry for the diatribe. Thanks for your paryers.Terri G. >> > You're in my prayers too Terri.> > grannylunatic@y...> > > > __________________________________________________>
