Guest guest
, I don't know what problems is having with her breathing,'s lung are collapsing at the base due to low volume, shallowing breathing and muscle strenght. This may not help but we're going to try it with .Dr Hersh ordered her a percussion vest. It's like what is used for CF patients. Today is the first time we've used it,the resp person just came today to show us how. Believe it or not didn't seem to mind it at all. When we tried the percussion massager it was a fight from start to finish. With that we had to hold her on her side and she DOES NOT like being held over at all. With the vest she can just lay still. She relaxed almost as soon as it started. We're going to try 20 mins 2x a day.Hopefully this will help increase lung strenght/capacity. Of course I also am hoping that if this works maybe, just maybe it will also help her speech. It might be worth checking into for . ,Mom to MITO: Breathing issues Hey there! Our has had breathing problems as many of you know for several years but became much worse about two yrs ago to the point she thought she was going to die. After our hospital stay in Jan we found out she has athsma. With her puffers her breathing has been so much better and no bad chest pain or tightness. She has been sleeping the most part of the last three days. Last night she began having breathing problems again and they continue on today. I think it is just because her body is so tired. She says it feels like it just do it anymore. Has anyone else dealt with this? What do you do when it happens? Thanks, HorsleyPlease contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. Guest guest
, 's doc suggested the vest when he saw her last month. He had me call our home health provider to ask if they could get one, they could not. They then called him back and he got hold of the co that makes them. They called me for measurements and we got the vest the next day.The lady I spoke with said they will file with Ky Medicaid. The vest co had a respiratory therapist come out show us how to use it.The rp said they are approved for all kinds of lungs/breathing problems now,it used to be only CP patients. She also said the vest itself is around $1500,and the machine (I guess you would call it a compressor) runs around $13000.Apparently they don't feel they will have any problem getting thier money from Medicaid, they didn't ask for PA from them and they didn't ask me any credit info. The name of the co is Advanced Respiratory, the vest is called just that THE VEST. Phone # is , web site www.thevest.com 's is called a Chest vest, the bottom of it comes just about even with her ribs. The other one is a full vest and goes all the way to the waist. I hope this is enough info to help get you started. I just looked in the booklet they send it says " it has been prescribed for respiratory complications associated with more than 390 medical conditions" Good Luck, ,Mom to MITO: Breathing issues Hey there!
