Adeline's has normal levels, but they said at the Mayo clinic that we should

always have Lactic Acidosis levels checked when we go in the ER or admitted.

She does have problems when she is sick with Lactic Acidosis, so now we

check every illness.

It goes up and down, usually up with any symptomatic episode and hopefully near normal between episodes. Fever or any kind of stress (like prolonged or aerobic exercise) will increase lactic acid. I can tell with my kid as she starts vomiting and loses all muscle tone, can't sit or stand. Usually the best treatment (for us) is hydration with lots of fluids to help her kidneys flush the system. Also the carnitor is supposed to help the body deal with the excess lactic acid, which in normal people is recycled and converted into useable byproducts by the mitochondria.
