I have not began any steriod treatment yet though, so that couldn't be causing it. Thanks again for your email. Best wishes for you and your health! Guest guest
Does anyone else with sarcoid experience bruising? Hi Kim, Bruising with sarcoidosis is not uncommon. Some of the medical literature seems to lead towards the Erthyhema Nodesum (EN) that some of us get with sarcoidosis. EN is generally found on your legs--and extremities. It can be raised purpilish-red splotches--that seem to be just under the skin and look like bruising. In fact, it is bruising from the trauma of the rash. EN can also show up as open sores on top of the skin. I know for me, it was like the cells of my skin enlarged--and then became inflammed--it went from my knees to my ankles. My skin was super, super sensitive to touch--due to the small nerve fibres being inflammed. I did a search using "Bruising with sarcoidosis" and came up with multiple sites. You may want to do the same and read up. Also I found a NEW site that Dr. Om Sharma from USC-LA Keck School of Medicine has established. I highly recommend this site. http://www.sarcoidosissharma.com The bruising may also be from inflammation of the blood cells themself. This and anemia can cause the bruising--so your MD's will need to do some blood panels and such to see what is going on. Neurosarcoidosis is a disease of elimination. When they've ruled out all the other things it could be-- then they put together the NS diagnosis. Many of us don't have "scarring" or "granulomas" on our brains--but due to the "vasculitis" --inflammation of the blood vessels--we can have brain impairments. Neuropsych testing is an easy way to access if this is the case--as the tests each require a specific part of the brain to be functioning to complete the task. It is painless, non-invasive, and as someone just put it-- it's boring. So go with an "open-mind." In our ARCHIVES and LINKS--the address is at the bottom of this and every email that goes out-- we have a tremendous amount of information. Tests, Labs, XRAYS, CT's, and Medications are listed-- so do take time to check out these sites. Welcome to the "family." Guest guest
I used to get a lot of bruises also. The doctor told me it was from the prednisone too. Something to do with the blood veins being closer to the skin? Guest guest
Hi Tracie, Thank you so much for this information. I am going to give it to my doctor and see what she thinks. I still have yet to find a doctor who seems to know much about sarcoid - let alone neurosarcoid. I think I have found more information from this yahoo group than any doctor I have spoken with thus far. Thanks again for taking the time to provide this information - I really appreciate it!
