Guest guest
We have applied for SSI a year and a half ago and got refused, it has been under appeal for 6 months. We recieved more medicial release form just yesterday that we have to return ASAP. This make me think we may be getting alittle closer. has several issues, Severe G.I. problem (which has caused abnormal cells), Reactive airway disease, tremors, heart arrythmia,Lordisis(form of Scoliosis),akward gait/tip toe walker/has AFO's, requires P.T, O.T and Speech each week ,and the list goes on.But I know he could be alot worse, we are lucky, yet still have so much medicial expence. I have only been in your group one week today and I think it is wonderful, it's been a great deal of help already. Does anyone have any information about S.S.I? Our case worker at S.S.I, said we were very close, yet we still got turned down. Any input would be great!!! Thank You!!!! Guest guest
Don't give up on the SSI! It is a very unusual case that is approved the first time, and often even the second or third. It seems almost as though they test your perseverance by turning you down a few times just to see if you are going to appeal, before they finally approve you -- sometimes even with back pay! There is no reason that should not be approved -- just don't give up! I have learned that lesson through several experiences with Social Security! Guest guest
I just wanted give a bit of info on my experirence with SSI. was approved when we first moved to Florida and a year later it was taken away . They said that we make too much money to qualify and we have to pay back the money they gave . At the time our household income was about $23,000 which is a far cry from being alot!I guess the prob is that every state has their own rules and regulations. Has any one else had this problem? Guest guest
Thanks, Sue! I'll check into it further. mary b Connor's mom - 10 years old - Leigh's/COX Re: SSI??? Some parental income does affect your child's eligibility for SSI -- but not usually all - as the child does not usually have any income of his/her own. You can find some good information on this at http://www.ssa.gov/notices/supplemental-security-income/text-child-ussi.htm, including Medicaid eligibility info. Be sure to click on Deeming Parental Income and Resources for information how the parents income and assets are considered. Sue There is an income limit for SSI, isn't there? We were told my income was too high and would love to appeal it but after reading 's response, I'm not so sure. How the heck can they make you pay back money they mistakenly approved you for? That's so wrong! Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
